My home made fuel tank for my SV650 cafe racer

I will post pictures from the start it's been a much more drawn out project than I wanted. I this year has been a shocker with covid followed by flu. I bought a Honda tank from the wreckers, which I cut the bottom from. With a 6mm rod bent the shape of the frame I mocked up the tank with duct tape.

Feel free to ask questions or advise a better way for next time.
I have never done any thing like this before.

Light colors of classic livery work well with silver colors like the frame. Dark colors on cafe bikes unless they're unusual are boring because dark colors visually shrink most objects and are tediously common in recent years.

Check a variety of Suzuki decals including those used on off-road bikes as you may find complementary lettering or a version of their S logo you like.

Flattened the top of the tank. Fitted the filler bung so the cap screws on.
I'm no panel bester but bog should be no more than 2mm deep so I'm happy with that.

Wire so long predates that machine's frame style it would be an affectation on that bike, like a wooden buckboard on a Rivian.

The paint job would work fine with the lines you have and the reverse cone megaphone is a classic spanning multiple eras.

The older light blue/white livery (Barry Sheene era) has more visual impact than later dark blue mixes. The pinstripes serve to guide the eye. Optional yellow worked well with it.

A much later but still ancient 1984 XR45 uses bright yellow wheels (race livery must stand out on film then and video now to make sponsors happy):

Your paintwork will be the first thing to draw the eye. I do like the "panel style" in the left unfaired machine you posted. That could work with the more straight-lined paint style of earlier Suzuki eras.
Do it sneakily enough and it will even confuse Suzuki fans. I like this project.
