41mm Extendo Forks

Any of you gents know someone/somewhere I can find some +2 or +4 tubes for an 83 fxwg besides Franks? Anything over ~$400 I might as well convert to a 39mm front end. Plenty out there for 84+ but I’ve searched high and low and 80-83 is tough. I’ve measured mine at 24.25

Another thing you can do is what I did with mine, and replace tubes, lowers and all.

I used some lowers off a wrecked Ultra Classic, which gives you the big disk brakes, and a set of 8 over(But I'm only using about 6) hard chrome tubes from Harddrive. They work fabulous. Stops good. Got the calipers for $20 bucks at a swap meet and rebuilt them. Softtail dampers.

Yeah I checked on custom engineering and they only have 84+ tubes.

confab- that's not a bad idea and I considered that. At least that way I could keep my nice front wheel I already have. I'll start checking around for a deal on some newer tubes/sliders and a caliper and go from there. I just wondered if there was a hole in the internet y'all knew about that I hadn't checked.

While we're on it, does anyone know how if the fork stops on the 84+ trees will still work with my 83 frame?

PS: I think all that matters (And all I looked at) was the style of tube and the length. Because, there are only a few to choose from on the older bikes.

There's nothing in the images on the right in that midwest page I posted that match what you have, just longer?

And my bike is a 80 FXEF. It had a 35mm front end on it. I used an older set of wide HD trees with the newer style 41mm tubes/lowers/brakes, to keep the padlock and the stops. Both work fine.

This picture has been floating around the forum and its what ive used. You're right though, as long as the tubes match the (B) style it doesn't matter what bike they came off. What I'm finding is anything over fx stock length (24 7/8") is either out of stock or not being made anymore. This is the case for midusa as well.

Thanks for the info on the trees. May just shell out for a 39mm and sell my front end as an entire unit.

I had trouble finding some long enough too... Ended up ordering them from Summit Racing, actually.

They were the only ones who had them or could get them.. But, I had to get them with dampers.

Everyone else was out of stock.
