Wauseon 2022
1) Trip to Wauseon.
2) Always reserve a room for an extra night in Wauseon, unless you want to sleep in a parking lot.
3) Wauseon!! Woot!
4) The trip home from Wauseon. lol.

No.. Doggone it.
We just went for the fun this year. The Mrs. cleaned up at that place last time. All I wanted was a tank bib for fatbobs, and there was nothing. Can you believe it?
There were probably double the venders this time. The prices about doubled, also. But, where else can you find all that antique stuff in one place?
My father passed away and things have been really bad, so the 45 projects have been on hold. We're probably not going to get a vacation this year, so riding up there was kinda our big thing and a mini vacation replacement.
Just getting ready to spin the project bikes back up, so maybe next year we'll have a parts haul to bring back?
It was cool. Flat track racing. Parts absolutely everywhere. Just being around that much old stuff (AMCA limits venders to pre 85 bikes and parts) was kind of breathtaking.
AMCA meets are really laid back, family things, and they do a good job with it all. It's a really cool, low stress, thing to go and see even if you're not actively shopping.

Since I'm a genius, I decided we'd leave a day earlier than planned and arrive in Defiance Ohio on Wednesday. Didn't bother to call the hotel because, it's Wednesday in Defiance/Nowhere Ohio.
There's nothing there!! It's Wednesday! There are, like, 4 big hotels all within a rock throw of one another. Surely ONE OF THEM will have a room, right?
lol.. NO.
We almost ended up sleeping in the parking lot.
We finally got the last room in a Holiday Inn Express 20 miles down the road in Napoleon.. And we were lucky to get that.
Won't make that mistake on a bike again. omz.
At least you can sleep in a rental car. Little less comfortable on a harley. lol.
But, it was okay. It added to the adventure.

Sorry to hear about your dad Confab, never an easy thing to go through.
Wauseon always gets rave reviews from my buddies. I was pretty hung up this year with work and a few health issues so couldn’t make it but that’s life. Definitely gonna make it out next year, about 250 miles but shopping for parts may necessitate taking the truck.

Thanks.. I appreciate that.
It's probably better, though. It was a bad fall and they said if he regained consciousness it would have been horrible for him. I completely believe them. So, it is probably better he didn't.
And yeah, Wauseon is awesome. You'll love it.
It is about a 6 hour ride from here the way we do it. (All backroads and stopping a lot) We wanted the long ride, but incorporated the UHaul option on purpose in case the weather went south. And it did.
You could plan one into your trip if you score any big stuff to bring back or it rains for days and you don't wanna get soaked by it?
Hell, you could even camp in one if you wanted? Even the smallest one with a ramp is pretty big.
Hope your health issues let you do it next time. It's a really good meet!

RIP to your dad!
I like your posts and your road trips to buy tools that are way too fucking big for your Jeep. Funny thing is that I saw that the New England AMCA meet was not in CT this year but MA.it is only $ 10 to join. I can even afford that it might actually be worth just knowing the news about scheduled events.

AMCA Denton in NC is a fun time in a great setting at Denton Farm Park. I've gone several times (with a truck since it's a great shopping trip).

I think we're getting ready to put them to use. Had the frame plans out for the Mrs. bike project earlier. She wants to get started on it.

You can pay at the gate to enter their events, but to be a vendor or sell in any way, I think you have to be an official member. Maybe for camping, too? I think I read that.
I've heard their members have a great used parts network and they help others out when they're traveling long distances on old bikes. There should be a great accumulation of knowledge there, so if you had a question about something obscure, I bet they could answer it.
I'll probably end up joining also, because something that neat should go on forever.
The only meet of theirs I've been to so far is the one in Wauseon. This is our second trip there. Denton might be interesting to see something different.
It looks cool. I found a video of it on the youtube.
