92 Fat Boy 2nd oil filter?

I recently got a 92 fat boy that has what appears to be a second oil filter that goes into the engine case. The normal filter is still there in the right spot so I have no clue what this is for.



Has anyone seen this before? I'm trying to find a filter that'll fit but it's such an odd size I might just remove it and plug the hole.

It’s a case breather vent filter. It’s not an oil filter

That is what is left of a crankcase breather hose filter.

Your best course of action is to discard that filter base and just leave the hose open to the atmosphere. It will breathe better without the filter. DO NOT plug that hose, or you will have oil leaks from Hell.

I usually just tie the hose off to the lower right frame rail, so that any oil mist that comes out doesn't get on the tire.

Thanks so much Jim. Guess it's a little different on older evos cause my 95 doesn't have this. And yeah I don't like the look of that base so I'll do something like you said.

1995 is a head breather. You’re correct.
