Transmission mounting trouble
I recently picked up a repop frame. I have why I believe is a 77’ 4 speed transmission case. I’m when I set it in the frame the 5th mount goes all the way to the drain plug. I also have a after market 5th transmission mount that I lined up next to the transmission and that one matches up with the the hole meant for the mount but is about 1/2 below the transmission. Anyone ran into this before? Are the transmission cases for the pans and shovels that much different than the 70’s transmission cases? I can cut the mount of and make my own, just wanted to get some opinions before I do. I’d like to get a older transmission case to match my pan head motor just not sure it’s financially in the cards right now so I’d like to make this one I have work.
Thanks!

I reckon that could be it. I’ll order another plate and see if anything changes

back the fuck off and take a better pic of the tranny and engine mounts before you order anything , you may have encountered a frame with offset tranny and engine mounts to accomodate a wide rear tire.
go to the last page of my SAT Motorsports thread on here to educate your self on offsets and wide tire situations.

Very little can be learned from the single photo.
It looks like the 5th mount is leaning into the frame and there is widening of the right side frame members.
This suggests as I said previously , it may be a frame for wide tire application , this means the ENTIRE tranny plate will be offset to the left.
Start 'chopping it off' and you 'll soon be in a world of hurt. Better to determine what you have before cutting anything.
As asked better pics will help. A plan view of the tranny and engine mounting area is all it will take.Last edited by SteveJ; 4 Weeks Ago at 8:59 AM.
