Default Frreaky fish findin dirty ditch drivin good timin red linin sportster build

Whatsup dudes I've been fucking around with this 98 sportster for about a year now and I'm gonna lay down all my progress and thoughts on it here mostly as a way to keep track of what the fuck I've done so far.

Bought as a 98 883 that some guy in New Hampshire was starting to make into a "drag bike". By that I mean he tore a couple things off and put drag bars on. It ran like shit but I got a good price and ideas started popping into my head. Click image for larger version.

First thing I did was replace the stock carb with a Mikuni HSR42 and a simple little air cleaner. It still ran like shit so I pulled the heads and found the valves to be shit. I have a 94 1200 parts bike so I threw on the jugs n heads from there and got her runnin alright.

Threw on some slammer shocks I had laying around. Not sure if Im gonna stick with em. Next step is replacing the ugly ass stock tank. Got a shallow tunnel sporty tank from lowbrow that I have plans for. Heres where she sits as of today: Click image for larger version.

Lately I stopped carrying my 11' fly rod on the Scout and switched to this Tankara 12' that packs a lot easier. I usually fish barbless so I don't need a live well or cooler. Occasionally have trout for breakfast. Neat to se somebody that fishes off the bike.

There was realt 12' of fod on that little tube.

As close to the trout stream as I could get last summer with all the campgrounds closed. Only about 1/4 mile walk from there

Plastic lens or glass, are you concerned about melting it when you weld it in, maybe weld a fitting in the tank and thread the sight glass in?? In case it leaks or breaks???

Its fused glass about 1/4” thick. Yea im a little concerned but i think itll look sick as fuck welded in like its just part if the tank so im goin for it!

Wrap a wet rag every where that doesn't interfere with the weld, keep the beads short and stop for a drink often to keep it cool.
