Default 1996 sportster build that's slower then molasses...

    Hi everybody...

I'm sure most of you have seen my bike, just figured I'd make this post to cut out a bunch of small talk from my old one..

Forward controls with mid mount pegs.. I already had forward controls, so I figured this was cheaper then buying mids and putting highway pegs up front

It doesn't need the wood block anymore after I installed the 1 inch longer then standard kickstand..

It's a hugger so it came with a 1 inch shorter then standard kickstand.. so essentially the new stand is 2 inches longer then what it had...

    Another small update..

I spent my day Sunday cleaning, prepping and painting my 9 spoke cast wheels..

I'll post some more pics after I get the wheels polished after they've have a few more days to fully cure..

Once the wheels are polished, ill be taking it to my local shop to have the tires mounted, balanced and installed..

Then I just need to wire the turn signals and paint it..

The painted wheels look good. What's up with the paint on the tins? Is that just a flat orange or some kind of primer?

    Thank you...

That's just a high build sandable primer I used to seal the tins and stop flash rust on the bare metal..

One of my friends really likes the color and thinks it should be clear coated but I have another color in mind...

As you can see there's a gap between the Frame and the bottom spring mount underneath the springs

I'll probably just go through my collection of keystock and see what fills the gap then weld it on to prevent the plate from bending under weight..

Thanks for checking back in folks...

Welded some keystock to the bottom to prevent any bending or flexing and painted it a few days ago

It's going to the local harley shop on the 23rd to have the stator, stator rotor, extra plate clutch kit, heavy duty clutch spring, wheels and tires, intake seals and have the carb rebuilt..

After that it just needs to be painted and install some turn signals

Speaking of paint i ordered everything I needed to spray it on wednesday..

I ended up going with a pearl purple that was slightly darker then the color I originally wanted..

I like the controls since mid pegs are a back saver.

I did that cause I'm always using my passenger pegs on my 07 1200 on long rides..

After awhile I just gotta move my feet, my back doesn't bother alot but every now and then it does...

the passenger pegs on the 07 have been awesome, so I figured mid mount pegs would be even better

Picked the bike up from the local shop today...

I can't even explain how much more I like the cast wheels vs the 40 spokers...

That purple looks really good. I'm interested in seeing the pinstriping.
