Default Rigid build rear axle length help needed

Man I am having a hard time with this. I am building a hardtail chop off an old Panhead frame. I have a lowbrow 16x3 rear wheel for it... anyway, I DO NOT have an axle and for the life of me I can't get a solid answer on what length to get.

I have measured the width of the axle plates at both the inside width and at the outside to outside width.

    Inside: 8 11/16
    Outside: 9 3/8

I don't have axle adjusters washers or nut yet, etc.
Can someone help me here? What do I need to get?
    Thank you in advance!

P.S. I have a picture of the axle plates attached if it helps

Is your rear wheel a starhub, mid star, or disk brake? A stock rigid rear axel 37-57 should bolt right in but I have no idea on length

    Thread: Rigid Frame Axle Length?

"Anybody know the length of a stock panhead axle for a RIGID frame?

I'm going to a swap meet tomorrow and would like to be able to verify by measuring.

    Thanks!"

Thanks and apologies for the belated reply. I ended up having to have a custom axle machined.

You need to add the thickness of the grooved adjuster washers which may vary in length.
I am searching for an axle for a rigid frame, The washers I have are 5/8" thick, I think the
common ones (or stock HD) are 1/2" or may even be 3/8". If the axle is stepped, where the
threads are (thread diameter smaller than 3/4"), I usually subtract about 1/16" from total
length of axle to prevent the axle nut threads from bottoming out, & preventing the axle to be
properly torqued (leaving a loose axle).

    Who's making your axle?
