Default Momentary ignition switch wiring help.

Hey there this is my first post so bare with me hahaha, I just wired in a momentary ignition switch on my 99 Softail and everything works fine lights work everything is getting power, when I go to start the bike it will start up just fine but when I release the key it kills the motor. I know I’m missing something stupid but obviously I’m not sure what, I looked at my Clymers wiring diagram and it looks like everything “should” be good to go. Anyone come across this before or have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks I’m advance!

If you mean a typical "car" key switch those port power to ignition both in "start" and "run" positions so make sure those both send power to the ignition.

    That's the usual problem.

BTW best to use (HD or blade style) thermal circuit breakers and of course never use glass fuses which are utter shit.

@farmall thanks for the reply man, I do mean a car style ignition switch and I do have the HD circuit breakers. As far as The switch sending to power to the ignition as you said in “start AND run” positions I’m not sure I follow, it’s a three position switch 1.off 2.accessories 3.run/start. It does start so I know it’s getting power to the ignition, the starter, etc. it just kills the motor when the key is released It will stay running as long as I’m holding the key in the start/run(3rd position)
