    1977 KZ1000 Chopper

Been checking this site out for a couple years, tried a few times but couldn't get signed up. Looks like today is my Lucky Day! I bought this bike about 5 yrs ago and got it running and driving. My wife loves it and I've had a lot of Great Trips on it. Then I low sided it and she burnt to a crisp!! So I am rebuilding it now, from the crappy welded on Amen Savior Frame to the Hallcraft Original Satellite Wheels. This is gonna be a worthy Opponent!! I've built a lot of bikes from my 66 Triumph Trophy SR to many Husqvarna Dirt Bikes. I am cross posted on another forum as they will help with the Motor and my proposed Turbo Upgrade. We will see how that will work out. Here's is a link to the Burn Down and some pic of the Progress since getting the frame back from blasting. Thanks for having me on your Forum Chris

nice machine; it sure got crispy!
I have the same P&P girder that I got with a KZ Santee swingarm frame, which I built with a '75 900 engine. The girder is now on my Norton chop with Hallcraft Satelite wheels.
I built an Amen Savior Z-1 with a 1013 kit in '82, then got a '77 KZ1000 engine from a crash and ran that in the amen for a couple years, before building it to a 1075 with the Z-1 crank in '93, into a Santee softail frame with +18 Jammer springer.

Nice bike TriNortchopz. I haven't seen a a plunger rear like that before. I'm looking to get the mini disc set up like that. Yeah she burnt pretty good, too hot to even turn the petcock off so it burned a full tank of fuel. I'm on Smokstak, KZriders, Cafehusky and a couple others. This forum is making me re-sign up today. Typed my email and password and it said it was wrong so i tried to reset my password and it said the email was no good! I'll be asking for some pics of your front brake set up eventually. Also digging the forward controls! They must be really wide to get around that motor! Chris

So The frame has been rusting away in the corner. I decided it was time to sand and primer. Found a bunch of stuff to weld so I taped those off and primed everything else.
Also got the Satellites back from chrome and added some new rubber. Might change those tires to something more period correct.

them Satelites look great with fresh chrome.

              Got calipers?

I saw that the Tokico calipers on 1985-93 Vulcans are small and a good fit, and cheap.

I'm putting together an old Hallcraft mini disc rim and I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions for a small brake caliper. I have an old Hurst/Ai

I've got a set of chrome cb 550 calipers Just have to make some mounts. After welding and paint. Will make a set of front motor mounts like shares has on that red bike I like that forward setup.

Pipe dream of mine is to do a 70s style long chop of a KZ1000 police. Will be keeping an eye on this thread with much interest. Good luck!

I guess we'll find out soon enough! Here's an image gallery showing the work done on the frame after it was returned from blasting, as well as a link to the Burn Down.

I added some bike pic to the top post. I saw there were none so there ya go. Finally got the fender welded up and it just needs massaging. then the tank and fender are off to the painter, the frame I'll paint my self when the time presents. I'm gonna build another but it will be a Harley. Got some wheels so that's a start. As you Know the yrs are flyin andwork takes alot outa the day so the small bites make for a long build. Happy New Year to You All and Stay Safe, and CCW Always!!
