Default Blowing mallory distributor on 64 panhead

Not sure whats going on, but i ive blown 2 modules in the mallory espark distributor on my panhead. I get one good fire up and then thats it. No more spark. Test module and its toast. I noticed also, that i keep getting a spark at the plug when i turn the key off, which leads me to think its pushing back voltage and frying it.
    Anyone run into this issue?

Check the input voltage, maybe it is too high.

    if It's over 14v that's not good.

A buddy of mine who has been building bikes for decades, runs
a ballast resister on his Shovel ignition and has also used them on
bike builds for clients. I think it limits voltage spikes.
