Default Lets build a Super, Super-B carb ... Want too ??

Customer sent me what you see in the photo ..

Really nice chrome job was done on it ..
He acquired a chrome retro fuel filter that looks like the old time Linkert filter, made by "Underworld Choppers"
Pretty dang cool with having the needle seat made in .. They make them for both the E/G and B carbs ...

Also the air bleed hole has been drilled and threaded for being able to use the S&S jets .. Allows for find tuning ...

My gig is to throw in a master kit, add a Accelo bowl and perhaps a "Bomb Sight" Carb Venturi ...

Photo above is a Super-B that I built to go on my 52 .. Shows the "Bomb Sight" installed ..

Yes Sir ... Locates and guides the drill bit for the pump discharge tube of the superbowl to carb body ..

Air bleed is a great mod for the B's ..

Definitely excited to see the Dragstews formula for a proper B build, I might even attempt to con you into some tips on maximizing a Super E along the way.

With back-orders in the soup makes it very hard for me to do my thing ..

The Superbowl is still on B-O ....

Sooooooo .... I took off on a hunt for a used one ...

After a bit of a time on the horn, found one ..

The pump's done, seen better days for sure ...
I'll pull a new pump from some Bendix kits that I have in stock and see if it shoots a nice shot of fuel ..
Might just get it together ... ??

Looks as if the bowl could use some chrome ...

Sure would fit in better with the rest of the carb ...

Default Getting the pump to work is a PITA !!

Installed a new pump ... It's way to tight in the bore to work ...

Found another pump that was still in a carb ... That one worked really well .. BUT .. Still no shot of fuel at the discharge nozzle ... ... WTF ...

Took a look at the check valve and seen that the check-ball was missing ...
Found a ball in some Holley kits that was leftovers, now it works as it should ..

One other problem ... The used bowl came with the single pull arm ...
Those was used on pre-81 carbs ...

This carb is the 81-up that's been modified to have only one cable ..
The problem is there is no throttle stop ...

Not a biggie cause the cable can be adjusted to be the stop ..

    OR

    Get the dual arm ...

    And it's available ...

Probly oughta get an arm for stash since some parts ain't gonna be available forever. (Add one dual arm to my order please since I've a bowl in need).

Nice of V-twin to repop the bowl since it's something simple they can do without fucking it up.

A stainless socket head screw would look better on that sexy bowl than the already corroding carbon steel part they used (stupid since stainless only costs pennies especially in Chinesium land). I even replaced the anti-run on valves on my riding mowers with stainless screws and washers for fast carb draining. Stainless low grade hardware is cheep online.

Easy way to have this stuff handy is order a pile via Ebay whenever ya need one since most small stainless is cheap. I'd make sure the screw on the repop bowl uses a US thread since I've never torn down a repop version.

Note to swap meet hunters, the original sand cast bowls work with the later arms. The original arm is sand cast bronze.

I got a bag of old Japanese Bendix pumps whose boots "might" survive ethanol but someone should do what the repop Tillotson boot people did and offer ethanol-proof (fuck "resistant") boots for Bendix carbs.

Will get two on order ...
The owner of this Super-B wants one too ..

Going to need one of these for the "B" carb ...
Chrome carburetor enrichment is 3 position with pike knob ..

    (Maybe two ??)

They all work. I've a couple of the VT pic style "notched" versions from whoever it was that made them first and some S&S (I trim the "wings" so there's less mass to vibrate but never saw any extra wear with stock, it was just a free precaution done back in the Cenozoic era).

The pack and ship outfits offer foam packs (or ya can buy them online) if you want to pack that stuff the way Uncle Sugar does aircraft parts or have them do it while you watch (I don't trust 'em enough not to have eyes on).
