Damn pics are nice..... ^^^^^ I bet your between 3rd and 4th like Jim mentioned....^^^^^^ I bet the shifter arm should be on the bottom...... Try going to what you think 3 and 4 and see if neutral is there......

    Best of luck............

Well I am an idiot! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on! The lever was attached to the top of the ratchet not the bottom causing the shift pattern to be backwards!! Well it got a nice rebuild lol!

Depends on which shift drum is in the transmission as how it will shift. As I said, you ain't the first one to do this.

I would try the #13 centralizer springs.
First disconnect the shift linkage from the shift arm and see how it feels shifting by hand, not running of course, to see if it feels weighted in one direction or the other causing it to go into gear prematurely.
    Just my guess.

Doh, for me, I didn't see a page two to this thread.
    Glad it's figured out...

    Easybake,

Sounds like the pros here have you headed in the right direction. They've heard the following before, but will repeat here for you:
If you have an extra $400 sitting around, the Baker N1 shift drum is pure luxury. Always at the bottom, easy to find. It works.

    Happy New Year!

    John
