Oh I thought it was the latch rod that was in the way and a good heavy cable to one side of where the rod ran would clear up some real-estate.

Good thought ...
But, there's that dang but again, the latch rod is dual action ... Pull up on the door handle opens the door, push down locks the door ...
Here's a bit of nutty that International people did until the late fifties, there is no key lock on the driver's door ! (They wasn't the only ones that did this, the Model T had a nonfunctioning driver's door, wasn't till the introduction of the Model A that had a functioning door)
What you had to do was lock the door from the inside then slide your ass over and out the passenger door which has a outside key lock..
They did that to keep you from stepping into traffic ...
Watched an old 1955 B rated monster flick over the weekend (Tarantula) and they had several scenes where the actors get in/out of their cars when parked in town by sliding across the seat and to the passengers side.
Course they used both doors when the giant spider got after them ...
(Dang ol' spider got good taste in women)

Not going to load the wire looms until the windows are done ..
Need to make sure they will have room to work around the window regulators ...Last edited by Dragstews; 07-18-2022, 6:48 AM.Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment

Must say that I like the way you think, Sir ...
But I have come to a conclusion that this power unit is way to ....
for my ol' truck ... !!
I got screwed with the 30 day return policy since it's been sitting in a corner of the shop for months ... Just now found out it's a POS at least for my application ...
Somebody is going to get a deal on Facebook Marketplace ...
Edit;
How cool is this ??
The company is going to take the kit back and refund my money ...!!
These Boys are a "Stand Up Company" which these days there not many out there that caters to the consumers needs anymore ..

Cool Art ....
Safe to say ol' Mickey isn't going though Oatman, Az at that speed ...
Took my Buell on that ride, dang near ran over a few donkeys .. !!

BTW ... This will be easy to install ...
Does a few things more than lock & unlock the doors ..
Locks the ignition, flashes the parking lights and toots the horn ...
AND ....
Just for having a key lock on the driver's door is this Nos part I found ...
(Pretty dang wild running up on 70 year old new parts)
Most likely there will be little need for the lock, but just in case the power lock system goes off line, it's there for back-up ..Last edited by Dragstews; 07-19-2022, 2:55 AM.Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment

My door lock never seemed very secure to me (on the 52)...Lots of play in everything. If I still had it I'd probably fit some sort of solenoid locks. Very cool finding that stuff tho!
Will you be adding any kind of security/antitheft system? I think that these days I definitely would.Comment

The plan ...
Door latch is in grand shape for being as old as it is ...
Did a cleanup and lubricated it ...
Came out of the think tank with this idea on how to hook up the actuator..
See the black dot ... At that spot will weld on a extension bout 3/4" long that's been drilled and tapped for one of these ...
Edit; Not going to do the extension, will spin out a standoff to weld on ...
Should work really well, got an abundance of throw on the actuator, soon shall see if this idea holds water or not ..
Refined the joints, RC car M2 ....

There are two waiting in the wings ...
farmall's motor parts are all here, just need to put some hours into it and it'll be done ..
The other is the 53 that's sitting next to the truck ...
Got to pull the motor and do a tear down .. Then get with the owner to find out how he wants to build it back ...
Hoping the heat will die down some so I can do away with the sweat band tied to my head (No fun having to change it to a dry one on the half-hour) and spend time on these motors.

On the truck ....
Looking at least a year of work that it will take to get it back to looking like a new (1954) truck again ...
Still have mega work to do on the fenders ...
Adding 3" to the rear and a bit of slice & dice yet to do on the R-140's in order to use them with the R-100 running boards ...
Rule of thump: change one thing and 10 others will need to be done in order to make that one work .. !!
Need to pull the motor on it in order to work the firewall ... Got a bunch of holes to weld up in order to net a smoothie and mount up the A/C evaporator .. Did acquire a re-pop firewall insulator for inside ...

The oddball trucks (Studebaker, Hudson, IH, Diamond T) are coming into there own rights ...
The Diamond T's aren't what I'd call a light-duty trucks ..
