Good to know about their longevity and about a US maker producing replacement PC boards. Offshore makers can produce quality parts but shitbag US and other resellers specify crap or insist on the lowest quote which is effectively the same thing.

There isn't much in a simple solid state regulator but quality is critical. I've installed a couple of EFs on customer bikes and never heard from them again so I didn't get feedback.

This one is purty but I ain't spending that much on a regulator.

CE should offer something like it since black-with-polished-squared-off fins is so 1970s. Blast finish will do for me and if I want rounded countours I can do that later. (The inside ball mill cuts on the slick Dragstews mod are easy to do that way by bolting the reg to a block etc on a rotary table.)

These electronic regulators with their integrated needle bearing replace the entire end bell bearing support plate/brush cover. The connecting wires are routed on the outside and have the correct length for 58 and 65A type generators. On a stock 45" generator the regulator's cooling fins will be aligned horizontally. O

I spoke to C-E about doing chrome Gens ..
They tried in the past but proved to be a hassle due the the chrome build up on areas that are a precision fit ...

My chrome guy is my Bro, worked in his shop off and on for years ...
We came up with a way to plate without the build up .. It's a bit more work to do, but parts fit together when done ..

            Indeed it is!

Masking areas not to be plated would likely be prohibitive for mass production (of quality parts that don't peel where the plating ends) but specialty work gets to be special.

You build some pretty shit, Drag. I belive Farmall and the owner of that shiny ass pan will be super happy with their projects. Keep up the detailed build threads. I enjoy them very much. Maybe start the next with "call me Ishmael" . Just a thought.

I'm good on starters thanks to my morbid Denso OSGR Light Duty fetish but thanks anyway. I want to avoid modern-looking chrome and favor pseudo-sand cast finishes (visible permanent mold smoothness is too modern for my tastes on this one).

Speaking of which when the generator shows up don't bother blasting the regulator
. I'm gonna figure out a consistent way to get a cast-looking finish on all the permanent mold parts.

I'm gonna get a Horror Fright scaler since my big ass Texas scaler needles are too large then sharpen them per

What is done to give forged parts a cast look? Is it as simple as media blasting with a real aggresive media or is there something else? Tumbling in...

I'll need to sort out an appropriate sprung seat post and full-sized sprung seat for this one as little kool seats aren't kool for my spine and that will suit the overall look I want. (I forget the vendor but they do AMCA shows with a shitload of seats so I'll likely wait until next Denton to choose a seat in person after appropriate fondling.)

Pic shows approximate layout I'm considering but not with that Brit front end and with 3.5 tanks.

Check out a Mustang (the motorcycle, I am thinking maybe Cecil Yother?) solo seat pan. They seem to be kinda smaller overall then the stock HD indian solo pan, but I could be wrong. Last one I bought was about 85 bucks bare pan, but has been a few years back. Cant remember if the cushman is smaller than the stock solo also. The stubby nose ones are kinda ugly imho Or the large bates if ya could find one

How much of this is yours, Farmall? You getting a whole bike done?

Chassis, engine, trans and the whole bit?

                                I have a wonder .. ??

Although you're nowhere close to this part of the build yet, it's coming ..

My wonder is what you'll be doing for a oil tank .. ??

Since the "look of old" is the game plan with a bit of today's creature comforts thrown into the soup ..
Perhaps the tank should also retain the Oem look of yesterday .. ??

And dat brings me to this ...

If you're up for some custom fitting work, this kit would be give you the base line to start from ..

$100 for what you see ..
