Poor girl. There's one thing that would make her genuinely beautiful, my old gray nuts slapping her eyebrows.
Best not to imagine that in every exquisite hairy gnarled veinous wrinkly sweaty olfactory audible detail though.

Barkeep .... !! More Mead !!

Oil pump has been serviced ...
Tappet blocks are also done ..
Used gaskets from the 48-52 era cause they don't have a hole in them to feed the hyd's ....
Being solids will be in use, the tappets are also from the 48-52 era ...
These motor parts will be set aside until the lower end starts going together ...
That may take a while, we decided to go with a Knuckleworks left case (65-69) ...
Just like the left case that was used on farmall's 48EL ...
This motor is seeing a few mods mostly for gaining longer engine life .
Not a lot of Hot-Rodding going on with it, but will be taking some meat off the stock left flywheel ...
Not going to be pulling a trailer or a sidehack or even packing Bertha around so a few pounds off will net a faster revving motor ...
Basically will be the same as S&S wheels ...
Can't beat it with a stick ......
.... Unless ....

Well I'll be dipped in sh*t !!
Think it's going to turn out looking pretty dag-gum sweet ... ??
That's ^^ the first coat of epoxy primer ..
Guide coat was laid on and block sanded ...
The first photo is the second primer coat ...
Going to bolt it on the truck so it won't be dancing around while sanding it once again ...
When done with that, it should be ready for the color ...
Wetting down the fender with final wipe (Wax & Grease Remover) gives it a look like the clear been laid down ... Shows the light refraction, which can be seen by eyeballing ..
Found only one spot that need a bit more TLC ...
One more primer coat and block sanding will have it gone ..
My goal is not to have waves showing up in the final finish ...
... (Good chance I may achieve that look ??) ...

Kinda getting a few more ducks in a row when I get around to doing the tranny swap (TH 400 to a 4L85E)
Wanted to add a bit of beef to the driveline with the installation of factory strut rods (The 75 1/2 ton 4X4 Jimmy frame that's under the Binder never had em) coming from the motor mounts going to the trans alum. dust cover ...
Came up with a used set (Santa dropped em off), powder coated them and was thinking of a way to mount em to the dust cover that came with the 4L80 trans ..
Being the trans came out of a 2000 3/4 ton Van, the dust cover didn't have the lugs, from what I understand only the 4X4's had them ..
The truck's THM 400 trans (K case), that I built so many years ago, has a dust cover with the lugs .. (Just a hanging, nothing was ever bolted up to the lugs)
Thoughts was that I could use it on the 4L80 ....
That dog won't hunt !!
Two of the mounting bolt holes don't line up with the 4L80 case and the converter is hitting the back of the cover ..
Okay, no biggie .. Some work to make up lugs and weld onto the 4L80 dust cover would get the strut rods nailed down ..
Was in the mode of hunting the material to make it so ..
Knocked on "farmall's" door to see if he had any solid alum. round stock ..
While we both (Two heads are better than one, ya know) was in the think tank on how to go about doing this mod to the Oem cover, a Buddy from my hometown in Kentucky sent to me a eBay link showing a cover that was made by GM for only 5 years that used those casted in lugs and fits the 4L80 ...
Only on the 3/4 & 1 ton 4X4 trucks ..
Problem solved ...
(Special thanks goes out to farmall, Hillbilly Josh & Santa)Last edited by Dragstews; 2 Weeks Ago at 6:47 PM.

Since this thread is in a eddy at the moment, thought to post up a few photos ...
She's coming together ...
One of these days I'll be pulling into a A&W ...
(Car-hop better have some stilts handy)
All that work I did on the fenders and the look is like it came from the factory that way ...
Can't wait to do the front fenders ....

4L60 behind a BBC? I hope THAT gearbox got a gut rehab! Good transmission design but herptastic execution by the bean counters.
Just added one of these to the LS frame rail slicing tool kit. A two-cripple crew can skin drivetrain donors so fast it's worth the time dual saws save. (If the damn yard would get ahead of forklift maintenance instead of being reactive that would be awesome but some dreams never come true....) The short stroke remarked on in reviews is a bonus when cutting steel near obstacles. Torque and stroke rate are what matters as useful reach is determined by blade length in vehicle slaying. Saw brand isn't critical but I've got plenty of batteries from other tools so the DeWalt won the day, adding more 28V batteries to my old but superb pre-buyout Milwaukee being uneconomic.
