Yeah Iím sure you will, people who weather the storms with us become a part of our own fabric, you donít just lose a person, you feel like you lose a little of yourself in some ways. It always reminds me to spend a little more time with those I still have around and not take our shared existence for granted.

    Cool find!

That plate is the ticket since it saves a bunch of fuckery I don't have time for ATM. (Bros life blew up due to evil narcissist dumbshit hambeast gf so I'm clearing my other house to rent to him. Poor fucker is completely honorable and decent but utterly lacking in social/pussy skills until his recent education. At least I get an excellent tenant. His epic mistake was failure (love is not only blind but frequently retarded!) to get his name on the trailer and car he paid half of. He was a 2Lt so maybe that explains it.)

Plan for everything to turn to shit because even if ya manage a long life with the gal/guy/livestock of your dreams one of you is likely to croak first. Everything was in my name and my will/advanced directives/rest of estate planning would have empowered my wife to seamlessly take over if I morted.

Condolences on the loss of your friend, but ya dodged a bullet escaping from anyone with a degenerate gambler's psychology.

Want starter nose, do not want belt guard. I like to see the space between belt sprockets. It's not near as pretty as Seaking's cast piece but being plain leaves room for something like ball-milled accent cuts.

While the plate is in your hands ya might wanna measure the hole center distances etc so you or a bro can mill similar in future if needed since aftermarket companies can vanish overnight.

In one of the aerial photos from the news team drome , I spotted her Sportie ...

We had many good times riding ...
One of the good times was when I loaded our bikes in a trailer and made a trip from Vegas to the "Thunder on the Mountain" run in Brian Head Utah.. Riding the roads though Zion National Park was a trip I'll never forget ...

She took that photo of me ...

Solid plate so I've more metal to play with.

As for fires, this is as good a time as any to remind 33ers to have (many) smoke detectors and CO2 detectors and test them. A smoke detector save self, spouse and house.

I also collect fire extinguishers (ya can never have too many) via auction buys. If you like free extinguishers read up on the Kidde recall because if ya find one of those you can confirm the serial number and they'll send you a free replacement per their rather large recall. When I see one at a flea market I snap a pic of the label...

    https://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en...-extinguisher/

Wood is fine for furniture and camp fires so every structure I add is steel (Steelmaster building or 40' High Cube shipping containers, "one trip" grade with doors on both ends preferred and NO storage grade WWT "withdrawn from cargo service" crap). A closed container will smother internal fires but since I like overkill I've an eye out for a used CO2 kitchen fire suppression system (they're really simple) which I'd set with auto and manual (outdoor) release. I find industrial and military style environments cozy and convenient, and all sorts of otherwise expensive stuff falls into my hands just because I remember my shopping list. I also separated my structures so any one could be destroyed without fratricide. All that cost was the awareness to do it. I'm not paranoid, just reasonably thorough and efficiently lazy.

Many moons ago I lost a GS 750 to fire because I wasn't prepared (had it on charge and when I looked out the window it was burning merrily). The responding fire chief felt my pain since he'd lost a Mercedes and the garage it lived in. If I work on any vehicle there's at least one extinguisher in reach. When I weld outdoors I soak the ground and keep the hose under pressure.

This is what happens when fools think wood is a good building material for more than an outhouse (Barber knowingly went with concrete and steel). I ain't running a museum but shop fires often wipe out the unready:

    Sorry ...
The Solid plate has been discontinued, only the Cut-Out plate can be acquired ..

FWIW .... The cut-out was my choice ...

It'll do. It solves the problem in the quickest way.

I'd like to cruise comfortably (for the drivetrain anyway) at 80-85. What does yer fancy compooter program and experience suggest for this drivetrain?
I like gearing on the tall side as I ain't no racer.

Seat of the pants tells me to gear it tall ...
The 5-speed still has 1 to 1 in fifth gear ...
    .... No overdrive .... In effect ..

    Looks wet and bad.

I figger you're proficient at bunkering but if necessary to bolt then return later for the insurance agent (nobody wants that but shit happens) I'm about six hours nawth (near Manning SC just off I-95), well inland and have plenty of space to safely and discreetly stash loaded trailers or whatever under armed guard (me) with no public access.

Dunno what you have access to but shipping containers are typhoon rated so if ya have a connection they're worth keeping in mind for emergency storage.

Bring it on. I treat natural disasters like training opportunities (including "lessons learned" notes military style).

Ian is now a Category 1 storm as it moves through Central Florida at 8 mph with catastrophic winds ...
It's been raining alligators & manatees, where I'm at, about 6/7 inches so far with more on the way ...

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Ian weakens to tropical storm as of 5 a.m. Central Florida slammed with flooding rains ..

Ian is moving north-northeast at 8 mph and winds had slowed to 65 mph. It was located 40 miles southeast of Orlando and 35 miles southwest of Cape Canaveral.

A turn toward the north-northeast is expected later today, followed by a turn toward the north and north-northwest with an increase in forward speed Friday and Friday night. On the forecast track, the center of Ian is expected to move off the east-central coast of Florida later today and then approach the coast of South Carolina on Friday. The center will move farther inland across the Carolinas Friday night and Saturday," the National Hurricane Center said.

Here in Florida 2.2 million are without power ..
Crews from 26 states are coming to assist restoring power ..
It's a mess down here ... The outer bands of Ian are still hammering us with gusts up to 65 mph .. And one or two more inches of rain ..

Run of the mill stuff ...
    Water, gas, batteries, food ..

My house has Off-Grid Solar Power (Monocrystalline Solar Panels) ..
We make sure the battery is fully charged by only using the power company's electricity until needed ..
Gives about 5 days of usage (No Sun to recharge) before going dead ...

Fortunately during Hurricane Ian's rampage we didn't have a power outage ..

We always have plenty of groceries/canned goods on hand, food and water won't be an issue for a while. I like to keep spare Olights ready (besides my EDC), I keep a gen (on propane) ready to go at all times, ice-melt is on hand, propane burner and grill to cook on, etc.. If we are expecting possible outages we'll make sure all laundry is done prior, things like that.

We WILL have hot showers, lights, chargers, and fresh coffee even with no utilities.

Cool solar setup. How long have you had it? Anything you'd add or change? What's the max load you've hand on it?

    Bout three months ...
It has cut bout 85% off the ele. bill per month ...

More panels would speed up the charge rate and allow to sell current back to the power company .. (Hadn't seen that yet, If we didn't have a huge demand to run the house could receive a kick-back)

    15 kilowatts ....
