Body-work ...
Well, gotta be done ...
Getting it down to bare steel is a chore ..
Could drag it around back and suit-up for sand blasting ... Or DA off all the old paint and bondo ...
Not wanting to take the fenders off the truck just yet ...
Going to wait till I get the R-140 Fenders in order to see what mods are going to be needed to get them to work with the R-100 running boards ..
Does appear that some "Slice & Dice" will be needed .. !!
(No Plug and Play with these fenders, must be custom fitted to my application)
______________________________________
Making a bit of progress ...
Visor is close to being nailed on ...
Windshield channel is mostly done ...
Had a bit of rust to contend with in that area ...
Hell of a dash ... Can't even lay a pencil on it .. !!
---------------------------------------------------------------
About that outside sun visor, did a overkill to the center mount ..
Wanted to make sure that it was going to stay put at 80 mph.
Using rivnuts for getting threads into the sheet metal, my thoughts was to double the thickness with welding in a support plate to the underside of the roof skin ...Last edited by Dragstews; 08-02-2022 at 1:25 AM.

That's the lower plate ..
Welded it into a semi blind channel ..
Made up the upper plate to match the contours of the roof ..
And welded it in ...
That small amount of overkill just may prove to be beneficial ...
At least it'll put my mind at ease trucking at a high rate of speed ...
(Really don't want the visor becoming a hood ornament for someone's Tesla') ...Last edited by Dragstews; 08-02-2022 at 2:23 AM.

Lol .... Right-On ...
Do think "Starman's Tesla" could use a "Sun Visor" ..
In February 2018, SpaceX launched a Tesla Roadster into space, with a test dummy it dubbed Starman behind the wheel.
According to the tracking website, Where is Roadster?
Starman has since traveled 1.2 billion kilometers (763.9 million miles) — and has now completed one full orbit around the Sun.

The visor has proved to be a chore ...
Wanted the side mounts to fit up close to the drip rail ... Driver's side did well, passenger side not so well ...
Had the "Mickey Mouse Ears" look going on over there ...
So, welded up all the holes that I drilled for using sheet metal screws ...
Also welded up the holes in the SS mount ..
That allowed me to to locate the mount holes centered to the drip rail ... No more ear sticking out ..

Next on the list of mods was to finish installing the keyless power door locks ...
The M2 Heim joints was to small, went to the M3 joints ...
My plan was to drill and tap the lock plate on the og door latch ..
After trying to drill the plate, found it has been hardened cobalt bit was only putting a shine on it ...
Dealing with stuff this small would have a high degree of a chance screwing up the latch !!
Decided to make up standoffs to solder onto the plate ..
Well I'll be dipped in shit and covered with feathers, dang thing works ...
(Used the "Muggy Super Alloy 1" to do the job)
That stuff is amazing .. !!Last edited by Dragstews; 08-15-2022 at 9:14 AM.

Keyless too ...
Flashes the parking lights two times when locking and once when unlocking ..
Also toots the horn ..
And the gismo has a optional function that I might add on later ...
When the remote is locking the doors it can also roll up the windows with one push of the button ...Last edited by Dragstews; 08-15-2022 at 2:51 PM.

Changed out the door arm rests to late 50's Chevy pickup ..
What I had was from a early 50's Ford car ... The Ford arm rests was Plug & Play ..
But liked the Chevy's much better cause of the stainless trim ..
Thoughts was that the Chevy's would bolt right on being they was from the same era ..
Nope the bolt pattern was not the same as the IH trucks ...
... Lovely ...
The screw holes was about 5/16" wider ...
Ok ... A bit of work went down to move the rear mount clip out that distance ..
Now it's Chevy approved ..
Was giving some thought to making up custom door panels ..
Something on this order ....
But ... Don't think I want to get into that much work ..
And I'm wanting to retain some of the old truck looks of yesteryear ..Last edited by Dragstews; 08-16-2022 at 1:54 PM.

I’d have to whole heartedly agree with keeping the old truck look. Too much dress up takes away from what makes that pickemup so damn cool, soul.

Thanks ...
About those side window shades, aka: rain guards, I couldn't find any for a bolt-on fit ...
Guess IH trucks are still sucking hind tit when it comes to aftermarket parts ..
I got a set for 51-55 Chevy pickups (Ya can get anything under the sun for a Ford or Chevy), going to try a bit of magic (Got a new wand off the Snap-On truck I'm wanting to try out) and get em to work ..
We'll see how it goes soon .. ?
.. Holy ..
Think I'll ask for my money back on that wand !!
