    Lol Guys ^^ ....

About the valve kiss ... What to do ..

These re-pop heads have the Shovel size intake valves, if the std Panhead intakes was used we most likely wouldn't have this problem ...
My plan is to sink the valves by machining the seats ... Since we are dealing with new the seats are tall ...
Might even cut down the intake valve head diameter a wee bit ..

A new problem showed up with my tooling ... Wanted to get the heads in the Seat & Guide machine in order to machine the seats ..
The head plate that I use is a uni ... Has the capability to bolt down all OHV models heads ... Here's where the slight problem comes into the picture ..

These new heads don't have the same bolt pattern as Oem head rocker arm blocks ..
Reason why is the chambers are not Panhead they have Shovel chambers, that move was to be able to housed the huge Shovel intakes valves ..
The rocker arm blocks got moved ... Which is the problem with not allowing the heads to bolt down to the Seat & Guide head plate ..

Not a biggie, just gotta elongate the holes in the plate for the new pattern ...

That small problem is history ..

Going to take the seats down .010" and set up the Trock travel gauge again for a look-see ..

    Needed more ..
Took .050" off the intake valve head ..

Did a regrind on the intake valve ...

    Getting close ...

Another .010" off the seats and a 45* backcut on the intake valve head should have it in the ballpark ..

    !! .. Dang Hot-Rod cams .. !!

    That's a very thoughtful offer ..

But do think I better run down the tests ..

One of those tests showed this problem ...

The lifter blocks are 76-up stuff and was on the motor when it came to me .. I did a check on the ware and gave em a green light for more miles ... Did order S&S chromoly pushrods cause the seat pressure is at 171# valves on seat and around 385 at hi-lift .. It had alum. ones in it ... Now here's the weird part, the tappets are not 48 to 52 ... See how much thread is showing ? Ok, alright, wanted holey lighting tappets for this motor anyways ... (Matches the CB and Gen idle gears, Lol)

" Now here's the weird part, the tappets are not 48 to 52 ... See how much thread is showing ?"

Lets see if that statement holds water ...
Going to pull the rear lifter block off and compare the tappets to a known 48-52 tappet ...

The joys of 60+ years of "fixes". Sounds a lot like my motor before T-Bone and you got a hold of it. ( T-Bone did the bottom end, Jesse the top end. )

You can also lighten the holey lifters more by grinding flat on the holes on both sides. Think of it as kinda hour glass shape looking at the lifter from front to back. How tall are knuck lifters compared to pan?

Not much worried about the weight ...
What I like bout the holy tappets is a bit better lubrication in that area of the valve train ...

And the knuck tappets are way out in left field ...

Love these James super duty gaskets ...

This motor is just about done ..

Owner is picking his parts to run on the rest of the scoot ..
Some talk went down, but it's his gig on how he wants it to look ..

I'm sure whatever this motor finds a home in, it'll be slick as a minnow's peter !!
