    Gray iron does have it's limitations ..

    Trock & Axtell cylinders are made from 80,000 lb. tensile strength ductile iron and are far better than gray iron jugs ..

    More Early Motor Builds ..

    Just took in a 53 motor job ... Fellow said he wanted 92 cubes ..

    Be the same gig as the 52 FL and the 48 EL that this thread is about ..
    Speaking of those motors, been waiting on outside work to be done on both ..
    The 48 will start the assembly very soon ..
    On the 52, well, still waiting ..

    Been a long wait and are pretty much the last needed parts for final assembly ...

    Was going to reuse the 52's old rocker arm blocks, but that would require a recon job on them, so we went with a new set from Teddy ...

    Setting up the heads is going well ..



    Check for valve kiss didn't go so well ..



    Like to see at least .040' between em at TDC lifts ..
    Got a bit of work to do in that area ..

    Specs for the Leineweber J-4 is intake .252", exhaust .177" with using the Panhead rocker ratio of 1.5 to 1 ..

    I's been waiting for an update on this one. Shiny!

    FYI, Took the Desert Rose for a short hop today ( 42 degrees is too cold for these old bones ). Jesse I got to say the power now is amazing compared to before the cam and your head/jug work!
