Cheers Tattoo. Both the same bike, black springer was how it looked when i first got it. I put the 4 over, king / queen, sporty tank and ape / dogbones on it to try and make it physically bigger to suit my height. It seemed to do the trick ha!
I went everywhere on that 79, great bike!

I like a lot of different styles I suppose!
Five.
Bike looks great in both configurations. I definitely don't mind it jacked up in the front like I've said!

The stance and everything on your 79' is perfect.
Funny, back when I dabbled in Sportsters I had a 77 XLH (swingarm) and a 79 XLH (rigid). Everyone said "stay away from the bastard year 79' it will be nothing but trouble!".
The 77' was a complete POS. The 79' was trouble free. In reality that bastard year 79' Sportster talk is rubbish... it's mainly in regards to the rear master cylinder location and the way the rear pipe was modified for it.... all of which are easily changed to an 80' up style and none of which even mattered on a custom rigid....

We'll youve seen one so far. Here's another one... My 37 UL 80 cubic inch flathead or sidevalve as Harley called it...... This photo is from when we were shooting some pinup pics in my shop... I'm working on the engine for this one..... It has been the definition of a long term project. The thing kicks me in the fuckin teeth all the time, it's 1 step forwards and 3 steps backwards but I'll get it one day.....

I put an 8 over on that purple frame I got from you and it's looking good I think that one is only 1 1/2 up in the downtubes

The 8 over tubes are kind of sluggish and heavy feeling when maneuvering around slow and tight in a parking lot or something. But once rolling down the road it is very stable and solid.
