Hey everyone, this is my first post to this site, but I couldn't help but see that this seems to be the place for people discussing the use of 2k clear over Duplicolor. My question is, what is the standard timing of this process? Do I need to wait a week for the Duplicolor to cure? Will it need to be sanded before spraying the clear...or will the solvent in the 2k allow for chemical adhesion to still occur?

Lacquer cures by evaporation of solvent. Overcoating it with anything before it dries completely could result in "solvent pops"--- small bubbles that form in the top coat as the solvents try to escape from the lacquer underneath. Just something to be aware of.

LOL Ditlzer is great paint...... It's the rattle can that's the problem......... I've painted for 40 years plus, Painted many award winning show cars. With a rattle can you can't get enough product to buff it to look like glass...... Just being honest..........Comment

It's all good...I know what I can get out of a can. I did a deck lid on my old Mustang with Spraymax and cut/buffed it to a super smooth finish. Not really looking to debate what can be achieved or anything...I have just never done Duplicolor under a 2k and wanted to button down the timing.Comment
