S&S Super E throttle shaft wear limit

How much play is acceptable in the throttle shaft? Is any movement too much?

I had the carb off the shovel and I was giving it a good look over and gave the bell crank a wiggle and there was a definite up and down movement. Took it apart and the shaft has some wear evident, so I'm gonna get a new one.

Could this be the source of my random carb sneeze?

Yes and lean condition and stalling at idle, I have done a bunch,
I would get the full kit and replace the plate as well, it's beveled so make sure you instal correctly.
An easy way to tell if leaking is to test while running with brake clean,
A lot over look the shaft

Looks simple enough. I don't have any worn shafts/bushings., not even on my ~100K mile Super B so I've not gotten to rebush one. I want to get a worn B or E body at a swap meet to do it for fun.

      Instructions and tool list:

i have run one super b and several super e carbs.

everytime i had one off. i would put a drop or two of oil on the throttle shafts.

thng my old indy taught me.
