Thanks man, Im actually not in Victoria, Im about 800 miles north of Vancouver right at the head of the Alaska highway. Cold as balls up here right now haha. Me and a couple buddys took the blackball ferry over to Port Angelas Last summer and toured down the coast to the Cali border, beautiful country down there.

The temptation to grab the grinder was there for sure but the fear of taking off to much material in the end won out. I did get myself a sanding pad attachment and some 120 grit pads Im going to try out on the other leg.Comment

Chucked the axle in to see if it was gonna be the right length and discovered a bit of play between the plates and axle. about .030". This is my first build with cast plates so not sure if this is normal or not. I understand that being cast and not machined there might be a bit of a difference

way to go on those sllders. i did the same thing to a pair 2 or 3 years ago. hack off the big parts but i used a belt sander to even it all out, than finer and finer sandpaper. i was also drinking, so there were a couple whoops moments and some deep gouges. after buffing i thought they were acceptable. they did look decent from 8 to 10 feet away.
now i have a lathe and about a month ago i decided to do em right. what a difference. you wouldnt believe how egg shaped these things are, so many low spots.
they're perfectly round now. i sanded up to 1500 before buffing.

Ya mine are not that bad they have .010" but I was not worried because I have to machine and adaptor that fits fits in the 7/8 slot for a 3/4 " axle so I was going to take upon and play with that. I am surprised the axle plates do not come with a machined surface. have you contacted harlot to ask them about it?Comment

edit: spoke to Nate at Harlot, said wont be a problem once its clamped down with the spacers and everything in place with the weight of the bike. Makes sense. Shout out to Harlot for the excellent customer service as well, got back to me right away.Last edited by WALLY77; 12-23-2016, 10:04 AM.Comment
