Chopper - A hardtailed, raked out, extended front end, jockey shifting, foot clutch, stripped down, crazy paint, chromed out, sketchy death trap of a bike that scares the shit out of you.

    That's my contribution

It is a bit of a misconception sometimes. I have seen articles from the 40s-50s that show you how to make your stock bike into a chopper by cutting the fenders and "chopping" parts off. The term "bobber" comes from the same thought process. The definition has been morphed over the years in my opinion. In the 70s-80s a chopper was a stripped down bike with a raked neck. Most of the time they were rigid frames, but not always. Back then a "bobber" was not raked, just a stripped down bike. Now we call anything that is modified a chopper. My opinion is a chopper doesn't need to have a raked neck, just be heavily modified and be a bare bones type bike.
