Having trouble starting 1972 OIF 650 Triumph

When I pick up did not start to good, but did start, so I figured I would go with the bare wiring, a toggle switch, a new tympaniums, pazon surefire ignition system, mikuni carb. With 2, 6 volt coils wired it like the paper work with the pazon and the tympaniums said in there paper work brand new battery, fully charged, all it does is spit and back fire. I am lost.

    Checked compression? Checked valve clearances?

What color were the plugs you removed from the engine?

In which direction does it backfire, out intake, exhaust or both? From one or both sides?

As far as I know I did like the paper work stated, more than once, I know it does not matter but the Speedo say 9,120 miles. I would think it was barely broke in. Will try again and do a compression test, and check the valves just to be sure. I will bob it if I can make it run.
