Its just moaning unless we actually do something......
So, Bill & magoo are gone. Chopcult is now just about advertising, advertisers and revenue and we're unhappy. The junkpile is the only thing on the whole site worth visiting.
Lets start our own forum, no ads, no income, no revenue, just a good site which is about our kind of bikes.
I dont have the time or ability to actually start one on my own, but i do have the ability to write some actual interesting editorial and do it free of charge. Theres nothing i can write about bikes that you dont already know, but i can write some good articles about how to adapt yours and others behaviour which may be some of the best advice you ever have. Im a learning & development specialist and can write about how to recognise and control fear etc.
By the time we've all chipped in there'll be stuff on bikes, lifestyle, rubsy's banging and fisting etc and a site actually worth visiting. No ads for ping pong brides, do rags, shitty chinese manufactured parts or #noclass.
That's my offer. What can you bring to the table ?

I don't post much here.
Just read the articles and the junk pile.
It has gone down hill since it was sold.
It's not the same old place.
It's like the passion has gone not just from the owners of the site but also from the people who come here.
Where are all the good how to's?
If yall leave and set your own forum up, let everyone know what it is called and I'll come over and have a look.
Maybe even post a few how to's if I have time.

I have started smaller but likewise very successful communities based on. vbulletin it's not a walk in the park by any means and it takes a lot of effort and work to get a forum of it'll the ground.
Running a Vb forum Isn't that expensive at the beginning. There are also very good alternative solutions out there from a forum based software however vb is the standard for most big serious communities.
I be happy to help were I can and play an active part.

I don't consider more websites "competition" but diversity in a good way. Tabbed browsing FTW.
No ads for ping pong brides, do rags, shitty chinese manufactured parts or #noclass.
Work is work, get paid fairly.
I suggest trying something different. Let the users have input on ads which go or stay. Then they would mean something and have MORE value to advertisers. I'd like to see ads for tiny/small businesses who make quality parts and/or give quality service, and I'd like to see the fact they also participate in making quality posts and threads recognized.
I would send work to Dragstews or Panheadjess because they know their shit and don't hoard knowledge. They weren't born yesterday and know sharing info is good for all and won't cost them any business. A biz contributing content should not pay for ads because they are adding value, and any crap content could be called out by the users. Win/win.
One slick way to deal with controversial (hack, cough) sponsors/advertisers is walled garden forum sections they pay for. For example Weldingweb has forums for some welding machines whose rep among industrial/serious welders is controversial. Their posts go there and people can help or not as they choose.
Moderation is tricky and there's good reason for the Junkpile. Ewok fleshlights have their place.
If you folks are gonna do this, make it an ethical business to get the best of both worlds. Once a site grows beyond (whatever) size it may be profitable to sell it and move on. That's fine too. There is plenty of room on the internet.

I have zero opinion on any of the drama, I have enough real shit going on in my life. I will say that I've been desperate for another place to go and talk about bikes. As far as starting a new forum, I don't have the tech skills needed. I do however have a background in photography and I write well. I know a handful of true garage builders and bikes that I could profile to create content. Chopcults been dead for some time now.

I'm in, I miss the way this place used to be. I used to write a monthly column and a bi monthly column for two different magazines. I think it would be to feature not only a bike, but the builder, where, and how they built it. I'd be more than happy to contribute at no charge, my only stipulation is no deadline, I do it exactly when ever the fuck I feel like it. I have a few good local builders in mind already.

Right, we have 'how to's', photographer, builders in mind to profile, general articles. That's about it isn't it ?
We just need a place to do it, website / forum builders over to you.
This is a fucking co-op !

No, I'm not banned. Not yet, anyway.
You guys wanted me to start a new Chopper/Scene magazine and do things the right way, so thats exactly what I'm doing (with a lot of help from a few dedicated, knowledgeable, and connected people).
Honest sponsors, legitimate community feedback, no corporate ownership, and I promise we'll never suppress or censor members' voices for the sake of advertising profit or sucking dick at the chopularity table. By us, for us.
Now accepting advertisers, sponsors, and any general questions and inquiries. Hit me on Instagram @_Rubsy or DM me here (unless they ban me first).
... We're doing it. It's happening.
ChopCult is dead. Spread the word.

I'll stick around here just to see how long it takes for it to turn into the bastard stepchild of the JJ. Like Farmall said there is a lot of room on the internet. I can follow more than one site.
