10-29-2015 #146I don't post all the time, I don't come here often after the buyout.. but maybe, as someone who doesn't come here as often anymore.. I might see things a little differently.
Maybe THIS is the reason some people take the NoClass fucking so personal...
here is the "code of conduct" sent to every new member.. SO? how many did NoClass break when they protected a guy that stole money from a cancer patient.....
"Please take a minute to review our "Code of Conduct"
The ChopCult Code of Conduct is easy to live by:
1) Don't be a dick.
2) Don't let others get away with acting like a dick.
3) If you think a member is a dick, call him on it, but in a respectful, level-headed way.
4) Personal bullshit meters are set pretty high around here. Tall tales and bench racing are one thing, but blatant lies and disrespect won't be tolerated.
5) See number 1 above.
6) We don't measure cuffs, hold petty grudges or make sweeping generalizations about people, motorcycles or their scene on ChopCult, but even douchebags are smart enough to know when they're at the wrong party.
7) Be cool, have fun and share the experience with friends.
Sincerely yours,
The Chop Cult Team "

I'm seriously down with #7, All about sharing my experiences with my friends, about those on the 33 who stole money(Dusty), those who lied about being affiliated with those who stole money(NoClass), and those who continue to take said individuals money and run their ads, (supporting such activity) AND WHOM HAVE ALSO CONTINUALLY ATTEMPTED TO HIDE THE FACTS.(Lisa)

Hey homies, why don't we make a r/vivalacantina or r/junkpile reddit sub as a makeshift?

I'm just chalking it up to inexperience of our editor in chief... there's on the job training no matter how well qualified or fly by the seat of ones pants no matter what field. The effort and promotion of the site over the past couple of years is commendable; but at the same time it's not wise to disgruntle those already aboard... it just undoes all the work spent bringing in people... then new people show up and are like wtf... making current efforts to expand also moot.
Herrick played a bluff hand of a lawsuit against here and won... though it was pretty clear he was more interested in spending stolen cash on meth and child abuse, pretty clear his family had abandoned him over such behavior so covering up or paying away another kerfuckle was not in his hand to play.
Then the whole charity shit that followed that led into where we are now... unfortunately, there are many people that look for the fast easy payout instead of diligent effort and work... it's pretty clear which of the two will always prosper unless the latter gets raped from having a tender heart then neither will.
Chopcult has been falling into the neither category when not cutting ties with a sponsor that had no qualms about lying to save face and then continuing on as if it will all blow over... or thinking this bad press is good press and makes them edgier or some dumb shit. I seriously doubt the ad trading is or was in balance between these two... they certainly need the 33 more and more as they slip into Herrickville.
Chopcult is really all of us, there's just a handful of people behind the scenes most all of which go completely unpaid for their efforts here, that balance their own life, work and families as well for the love of chop and the community.
It's easy to see how disgruntlement can grow in such an environment; when focus changes from fun and choppers to other things on the community level. Chopcult and other forum based social networking sites are more like a living organism than just another website... the community is fluid and constantly moving around a particular focus and when the focus shifts? It's important to look at why it's shifting, is it down shifting out of a perceived threat? Is it up shifting and goosing the throttle out of a fear from something in the past? Or holding steady and just cruising along business as usual?
It's obvious no one wants to ride bitch here behind an inexperienced rider... when we side with an organisation with no fucks given to the community that supports them... we become the same as them over time; and the community will naturally suffer because there are more organisations and businesses across the board represented here... from grassroots to multinational corps, all will feel the economic pinch in some fashion from this rotten apple in the bushel... it is very unwise to continue in support and alignment when one turns up full of worms, for whatever reason.
Not only is the 33 a living breathing fluid organism it is an organisation, because it has to keep and maintain a specific direction to stay true to it's mission statement and all those vested in and as the community or else veer off into oblivion with everyone bailing when the one holding the bars starts getting fishy with them.
It's important to be open and honest and address such things, and square them... instead of just riding on like nothing happened, because faith in the direction we are headed in becomes questionable. Of course, many don't mind, have paid attention, or care... they simply haven't vested or dedicated any time into the community, or are only aboard for the ride or out of curiosity, popularity or whatever personal rationalization.
Those that have time, and investment into this community to promote fun and motorcycles and perhaps make some scratch on the side to continue their love of choppers and fun... are naturally going to be unhappy when some person(s) bumps the turn table.
The other aspect is the 33 is not only an organism, and an organisation, it is also a business... acting like things are business as usual when the organization of the organism starts falling apart is not keeping it in balance... because thats the very thing that keeps shaking the machine apart.
It takes honesty and openness to address such things... a voluntary act of vulnerability instead of staying guarded for whatever reason. Not opening oneself to criticism is a childlike behavior, and has no place in the business world... if there is to be any trust or respect between all parties involved. Many of us may act like children in having a good time promoting fun, but that does not mean we conduct or expect others to conduct business in the same manner... without valid reasoning for doing so.
When I was given the job as a mod; I had no experience other than being a member and watching how mods handled their business, and the occasional calm the fuck down it's not as big a deal as a member. Allen told me the basic duties but other than those few guidelines it seemed everything else was to be a gut reaction judgement using one's own integrity as a guide. Fortunately, I learned thick skin down in these parts before having that duty... so it was easy to look past the abuse and see the frustration instead of taking the offence as personal... in order to help the person instead of frustrate them further.
Of course, thick skin came in handy as a mod wandering around the JP too, not that I was getting directly insulted in public... but because thick skin doesn't mean to bounce it off where it may hit others, or reflect it back instead of dodging it... but absorbing the blow it's actually the same as how plexi glass and Kevlar etc. works... so I'd draw attention off and try to absorb whatever myself.
I did my duties when sick, injured, high, drunk, and even dosed off my ass by the random LSD fairy slipping shit into my drinks... usually when people try to stay offline; to guard whatever facade or persona they are trying to put forth or to just avoid whatever responsibility altogether, but it was a good lesson about being open, unabashed, and mostly unfazed if anyone was paying attention.
Sometimes, I forget people are guarded and hide themselves as if experiences are them and not just the experience themselves, and the person we are is how we perceive all these varied experiences. If it seems I'm complicated or off my tit; it's because I don't see experience as something to hold up against all my past experience then express it outward as an existent self... doing such only creates the illusion, that there is something solid to guard and protect at all costs... it gives rise to an ego and self importance.
I have experiences and I look at it as a teacher, and I do this from as many different perspectives as possible, using both logic and ration. It's my opinion that doing so gives one a clearer perspective on life and situations and one of ethics creating a sounder judgment, than one so rigid as a moral eye for an eye right and wrong... when judgment doesn't pause in black and white, and instead spins it into the grey area of multi-perspectives the world and every situation becomes open to possibility and greater understanding.
We all have the urge to live well and be happy, though the means in which we attempt to achieve or maintain that may come into question; and this questioning might be something wants to guard against, for various reasons... it is irrational to assume those doing the questioning have no capacity for understanding or dont care to begin with... whenever emotions arise; thats the time to really sit up and take notice of a situation... because sometimes theres rational reasons for these emotions and sometimes irrational ones. In this case though, there are rational reasons for disgruntlement... and what appear to be irrational reasons to ignore the disgruntlement and hope it goes away.
The problem with that though, is like getting a wound and avoiding treating it... it may scab over but if it takes another blow it may open up over and over until infection sets in and the only treatment is too make another wound by cutting the damn thing off. So, riding on when things arise like nothing happened over and over has not been a wise choice community wise... I urge Mrs. Ballard to spend a few of those 11 hours investing in the people of this community so they gain a human face, one that's worth caring about and addressing them in an open and honest manner, when the need arises... It's something I did the best I could as a moderator, but I could sense the lack of communication rift growing there as well... I suppose when one is left to their own devices, those devices just become ones own purpose instead of what best works for the whole to keep things organized.
I dont have any ill will towards anyone here or any hidden agendas. I just pass some thick skin on; in return for the gift of it that was passed to me... and I try to keep shit somewhat fun and interesting; while trying to get on my feet out of this vortex of dmv and family nonsense, so I can ride and build again.
I wish everyone here luck and wisdom with their endeavors; whether remaining here at the 33 or leaving... salut!
