I have such a hard time to take LARP seriously

I played D&D and other Fantasy Pen and Paper games when I was 10 -16 and I have very fond memories spending weekends pretending to be what ever character, I wholeheartedly recommend it to any kid since I think its hugely beneficial to them.

LARPING on the other hand looks fucking awkward to me, I don't know if I should admire these people from staying true to their inner child

My brother was big into some kind of LARP-ish reenactment stuff and he always said it was for the chicks. In his words, there were lots of young groupie/wenches who liked guys who knew how to "swing a sword." It was working for him so I guess I can't argue.

our neighbors at the old house were into larping. they used to go to this thing called pennsic. its was like a big medivial festival competition thing as far as i know.
they have clans and shit.

him and his buddies used to get together now and then and duel. like with wooden shields and swords. i mean really go at it. beat the fuck out of each other. blood and all.
my yard was on a hill above theirs. used to drink beer and watch them pummel each other. not much dialog acting shit. just fighting.

im not interested in participating. but it was fun to watch.

watch a neck beard at a full run smash an oak sword into a shield and the guy takes the back of his knees out with a short sword on his way past and he eats shit.

Yeah as a kid I was pretty into the whole sword fighting with clubs and stuff, we'd make shields and armor and just wail on each other. It must have looked stupid as fuck but helped get out some of that pubescent anger. Same with paintball and air soft and all that.

I never got into the "fantasy" side of it but i did help out a re enacting group that some of my friends were apart of. I actually learned some blacksmithing during that time. Pretty much everybody made armor out of blue plastic barrels so i showed up and offered to make carbon fibre or fiberglass armor and everybody wanted it.

I know this pisses off people that think larping is lame, but airsoft is also larp LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Yeah, truth be told LARPing is the same thing as airsoft as paintball- just using different settings and weapons or whatever... except you can make money playing paintball (I don't know about airsoft).

I've had my fair share of interactions with guys that played paintball that were way too serious- callsigns and ranks and whatever other shit.....

The guys fighting in armor is a little different because, well- they're actually fighting and trying to kick each others ass. M-1 did something similar to switch it up from their typical MMA scene and I thought it was pretty entertaining.
