Hey guys,
So i bought this bike back in October 2014. i got it totally stock with a slew of extras from the Honda dealership. I've left it untouched and stock from then until this week. I know I've seen more than a few shadow chops and builds on here so I thank you guys in advance. I'm remarkably new at this customizing side of things but I just want to keep track of all the changes over time and answer any questions I can.
This is the bike back in October when I bought it. It came with some floor board pedals which were sure comfortable but heavy as all hell and ugly to boot. The bike also came with a sissy bar back rest which was only good for strapping bags to.
I recently joined a co-op here in Atlanta called Brother Moto. Mostly Cafe's, Trackers and Brats but a wealth of knowledge and help is being thrown my way. Those dudes are super rad and you should look at some of their builds because they're great.
My first order of business was to clean up the front end off this bike. Honda sends these bikes out with some hideous fork covers. Day 1 was spent removing those god awful aluminum covers and replacing them with some gaiter covers. The covers originally belonged to an BMW R90. I personally think they're a bit too large for the fork but I love the look so far. We also ditched that gnarly lollipop style turn signal. I'm going to keep signals in the back but ride with a single light up front. The handlebars were trimmed down by 3 inches on each side to narrow the body a bit (Thank you Phantom09 for the amazing guidance). I removed the front fender. Also ditched all of the "extras" the dealership threw in. I ditched the sissy bar until we can build out something worthy of rocking. I also ditched the platform style peg boards and put in some Biltwell Rocker pegs. Also, ditched the stock mirrors for a single slim profile mirror. Nothing groundbreaking but it really cleans up the front profile so much.
We'll be changing out the rear turn signals and brake light next. Afterwards we're changing out the tank and going from there. I hope you guys enjoy whatever it is I'm about to do here. If you have any advice to throw my way I'd love to hear it. If anyone knows some cheap exhaust alternatives I'd love to hear em. Thanks.
