Thread of The Day: SevenSix Fabrication: xs650 build. 5 week deadline!!

Here we go again guys, xs650 commissioned build. I agreed to have it done mid December, There is a cool story about who its for and who's paying for the build which i will tell you guys once the owner has it.

check us out on instagram for daily updates: SevenSixFabrication

Heres where I've gotten in the first two weeks:

    The plan

    Chopped

3/8" axle plates cut on my torchmate, Check out IG for the video of these being cut.

    first side mock up

Solid 1" slugs at each joint. Root and cover pass.

And we had a roller in 2 days flat!

The hardtail was designed as a weld-on kit available to everyone

Spent a day cleaning and grinding the factory welds to cover them up with some pretty weaves

    fit like a glove

    And here we are today.

      UPDATE:

Been a busy two weeks doing a little things, and one major change. The customer asked if it could be a two seater. Now I hate the way hardtails loook with a 2-up seat. So I was faced with the challenge of making a good looking 2 seater. I decided to go for a modular design, so the most of the time it will be a solo seat but when the lady wants to go for a ride a 2nd seat can be slipped on and attached using no tools. (all the pictures below are of just the solo seat)

Not the tank ill be using still waiting on the actual one to be delivered.

chain tensioners, spacers, caliper mounts etc...

      Pewww pewww

      Supervisor Lucy

Curved mid Moto pegs to flow with the frame lines.

Now this is where it gets interesting....

The second seat "sockets" into the backbone of the front seat.

And where she sits today, Its like Bobber+cafe with a hint of dirt bike. Should be a real fun shredder.

Looks cool, but painful to ride. Did you consider maybe suggesting a monoshock instead of the hard mounted seat?

The lines of the hardtail are great.
Do you plan on reworking a bit the axle plates, or they'll stay as is?

There Will be quite a bit of padding on the seat, it should be like riding a hardtail with 2" solo seat springs.

Yes I will be doing something to them, I just don't know what yet. It was a mistake that I didn't catch until one side was fully welded.

It's been abit but I think this thread warrants a thread of the day, I think it's only going to get better and better. I appreciate your keen eye for detail on this so far keep it up.

I didn't realize until I saw the page and re-read this thread that the tail would be for sale. I'm actually trying to decide which one to order in the next few weeks. Would this one be available for some slight modifications, mainly for a seat crossmember? I know I could do it myself but I don't really have access to machining tools to make a nice copped crossbar.

It actually does come with a seat crossmember (temporary tacked so you can move it). Also ANYTHING on my website is available for modifications. Everything I do is made to order so just let me know at the time of ordering what you want.
