Hot Rod softail chop
Hey guys, I am new over here. I built this bike last fall and tweaked it over the winter. I have built a couple of other bikes, but this is my first Harley. Basically an untrained "hobby builder" with basic tools, so dont be too rough on me. This build is on a couple other forums, but hey, its Sunday afternoon and I am drinkin, so may as well join a new forum!!!
When I brought her home. 1990 softail custom with fat boy tins. Bike also has some cams, screaming eagle ignition and short shots. Pulls real strong for an 80".
Pulled off the rear end

Pulled of few more parts off.
Mocked up a few parts. This is where people usually start yellin at me!!!
GSXR 1000 front end and CBR600RR rear end.
Dropped off the GSXR triple and the harley triple to the machine shop. I had them press the Harley stem into the GSXR triple. Then I could just bolt the GSXR front end onto the softail frame. Ran into a little trouble and had to do a bit =of machine work on the GSXR top triple, but worked out fine.
Got the bike sorta mocked together. The big issue at this point was getting a stright chain run. I had never worked on Harley before and I was new to the whole "motor, primary, tranny" set up. With jap bikes, usually an offset front sprocket solves the chain line issue. Not a Harely!!!

So after a lot of studying and calling and asking and measuring and measuring again, I determined that I needed a one inch offset tranny plate, a one inch spacer on the motor end and a 1/2" offset tranny sprocket.
So then I got the bike runnin and rollin. She tracked straight and didnt fall apart. I was very happy.
After a few weeks I tried to ride my hot rod like it in fact was a GSXR. It didnt work out very well.

I give you props for going out on a limb and trying something new, but jesus christ that is the most hideous machine ive ever laid my eyes on....generally when I dont like a build I just leave the thread, but I cant walk away without saying something. That thing is a travesty against motorcycles and you should call your local HD dealership and apologize.
Enjoy riding it though, you should get lots of looks and plenty of questions...

stock sucks anyway. i hope you built it just to annoy people. the germans used to build stuff like that all the time ( though they also wear socks with sandals) . i do like it for the annoyance factor. besides, if you get tired of different you can always go back to "bobber" fairly easily from there. remember, it was weird when the first 21 inch wheels came off of dirt bikes and small tanks were from mini bikes.

I dont think you can be much more of a "chopper" than this machine. I post it up on a forum called "Chop Cult" and I figured it would fit right in!!!!!!!
That is weird. The dudes at the Harely forum, who ya figure would hate it, friggin love it. The dudes at the chop forum, who ya figure would love it, hate it.
Oh well, thanx for the welcomes. I love the reactions to my little piggy!!!

i think its how the back of the frame just drops off that messes with me. makes the swing arm seem like an after thought. rest of the bike seems ok with me

At one point during the build I alomost gave up and the CBR rearend because I was havin a hell of time gettin it together with a straight chain run. I bolted on the stock swinger for a bit and ripped it around. I liked it, but the bottom line is that it was "just another bobber". I had a lot of time, effort and money tied up in the CBR rear end and I wasnt gonna give in. This was the temp set up.
Cool Bobber.
Cool.......wait....what the.........WOW. IMHO!!
