Freaking sweet. Quick question, you're 10.5" shocks, do they have .5" eyes?

i think its the mags and bias tires. I had trouble with my Firestones and even took them to the local motorcycle shop, used the tire machine, and then exhausted all of the tricks and we ended up putting tubes in them.

Bunch of false starts and "challenges" got us a bit discouraged on this build. We had some beers, and regrouped. We're good now.
Scored a set RSD wheels (18" R and 19" F). Yeh, we know, that's cheating, but we're loving the clean simple look of these wheels. Wrapped them in Metzeler rubber to complete the package. Now if we can just talk him out of some discs and calipers!

The exhaust gods must have heard our plea for help as well. Not sure why we keep trying to build/modify our own systems. We're clearly not good at it. We've lusted after the box exhaust DP Customs did on one of their builds and they were generous enough to make one for us (we begged a little)! Pretty sure this one part made the build.

Things are really starting to come together now and this thread is pretty much caught up to real time. We'll post more as we break stuff.

OMG, I just youtubed the clip of that bike running....they really need to put that pipe into production and make it available to the public! Any idea how it stacks up on the dyno?

We have no idea, but are really looking forward to running it!
As we understand it, if they get enough requests, they'll make it available to the public.

Yay! Updates! Dig those new wheels and the tires will be much better. People seem to like putting more sporty modern tires on this type of build and I support. Better tires are more fun in corners. And that pipe is a sex macheen. Rock!

Nose! Glad you're back.
We are beyond stoked on the new wheels and tires and the DP exhaust is pretty unreal.
More super secret Ninja parts coming from Burly, too.

So that happened.
We got a little optimistic on the tire size. Width looks great, belt not so much on board with the change. Might be time for a chain conversion.
Gave Kyle at Lowbrow a call and he's now building his own sprocket and selling a kit.
Really great looking part and reasonable price. Thanks Lowbrow!

Hope to have the bike back up on its wheels this weekend. Might also be time to call the painter and beg...

^^^Ran into that same problem mounting Shinko 777's on the back of a pre-04 Sporty. Scrapey-scrapey. Hoping my Shinko 230's on Shovel wheels don't do the same thing on my 95 XL project.
Stupid tires.

Balance of the covers went to powder and body to the painter. Now we pray.
In the meantime we're going to get a little ghetto style. Picked up a couple cans of Harley's "texture black" (the most expensive rattle can we've ever purchased!) and tested against the powdered parts. Dead match. That cinched it, we're not pulling the motor. We are now masking gods.
And this came in the mail:
Loves us some Biltwell stuff. Blacking out the motor made the carb cap and ignition cover almost mandatory.

Motor should be dry and ready for assembly soon.

Fresh set of Burly Clubmans get unwrapped. Internal wiring on this style of bar has always been a nightmare so we capped the ends. Now you can work the wiring though the hard corners. Makes it a ton easier to wire them. Obviously stock length wires are plenty good, so pulling the wiring out of the connectors, feeding it through the bar and reinserting it into the connector takes minimal time.
Picked up an Speed Merchant triple tree, too. These things are a work of art. http://thespeedmerchant.net/
It got tossed into the freezer for a little metallurgy lesson (wife not stoked). As it turned out the bearing fitment was not as tight as the factory stuff and it probably did not need to spend theday with frozen pees, but better safe than sorry (ummm, sorry hon).

Just got pics from the painter. We love Smokey, he plays along with our dumb ass requests and hits the deadlines. http://paintbysmokey.com/
Color is still a bit sketchy (our fault), but it's looking to be ready to shoot!

was contemplating clip ons but . . . upon these
being released I'm reconsidering! so nice.
I like how they don't have a crazy wrist-destroying drop angle.
