How to Search the Forums
Searching is a skill. You have to be clever and try to use terms that the search will recognize and respond to.
Search really common things like "ride" and you are going to get a million results. Try narrowing it down to something more specific like "how to not ride like a jack off" and see what you get in return.
You can get more specific and get way better results if you use the advanced search. It takes a little longer but works better. Follow the instructions below.

If you have to search to find things that were once right in front of your face I call that making things harder, not better. But hey, that's just me - I hate change.

TECH Search
Tried to search for "TECH:"
1st listing in the returned results was the gun thread from the JP:
Not 1 "TECH" thread?

If you've just got to find the old TECH threads in the mean time, use the word "Rating" at the top of the forum and it will load all 5-star threads first. All of the old TECH threads have a 5-star rating and should come up. (Of course there will be other stuff in there too.)
