    Default Help needed with my xl883 project!!

    Hi guys im new to this forum so forgive me if im asking something simple or that may have been answered some where else.

    I have a 91 xl883 harley that i have hardtailed and im dropping the engine back in the frame tmw and i was just wondering if anyone had any tips to help or if there is anything i should make sure i have done before i sit the engine back in the frame??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Tip the motor on it's side on the ground... then put the frame over the top of it and bolt it in. That way you don't have to lift the motor.

    The only problem with this is we have the forks and wheels attached to the frame. i was just worried that there mite be some pipes or other parts that need to be placed or tucked away befor we dump the engine in.

    If you have a buddy, then both of you just grab a hold and install it.

    getting it in the frame should be easy just wasnt sure if anything needed doing befor we drop it in or do all the pipes and other bits work round the frame?

    Well, is it all stock or mocked up? If it is, it should just all fit around the frame and motor. Just get the motor in a build from there. I always start from the front end back ( just like with the ladies) and write everything that you need to do and cross off as you go. It's easy to over look the easy shit like loctite, tourqe, pinched wires, loose clamps. That's the stuff that always bites you later when you test ride and your exhaust pipe falls off

    iv had the frame hardtailed and changed the battery and oil tank but its all in the smae place just bit nicer looking. yeah im going to cover all the bolts in loctite and make sure its all done up properly dont want to be leaving a trail of bits on its first ride!
