Hi there,

I have been wanting to make one of these for ages and, after telling my boss to stuff it, I have plenty of time to do so - here we go..

Get some stock;

Drill a couple of holes to match up to the lugs for the points cover;

Make a backing plate so you can fit in the chuck of the lathe. Drill and tap two holes to match the holes in the cover;

You should now have something that looks like this;

Take down the outer diameter;

Flick the stock round and then cut a shoulder into it;

Flick the stock back round and set it up in the mill, take a centre cut;

Mill, mill away and then you should have something like this;

Polish out all the machine marks;

A smoother version;

Fitted...

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s95/freewheeler1968/chopper/points%20cover%20018_zpsfuq4eezk.jpg (http://s150.photobucket.com/user/freewheeler1968/media/chopper/points%20cover%20018_zpsfuq4eezk.jpg.html)

I put two days effort into this to get what I wanted but I am really pleased with it. There are still a few machining marks but I can take those out later.

Hope these are of interest to someone.

Nick

Shit's tight! Think you'd be done to maybe make one to my specs in the future?

It would be my pleasure to do so, sir.

You would have to pay shipping from Europe though.. ;)
