Obviously I have a penchant for Sportsters. I've had more than a few over the years. Most people see sportsters as a good first bike or a stepping stone to a big twin. I think they're just a great platform for building custom bikes that can be fun as hell to ride without breaking the bank, and as far as evo Sportsters, extremely reliable as well.

I would like to introduce you to Debbie Fitch, an amazing photographer based in Baltimore, MD. She has graciously joined this fine circus and we'll be showcasing builders and bikes from her area. Debbie is determined to capture her photos in the moment, an action that almost killed her last year.

When I found out this was Shawn Hallas's first build I really had a hard time believing it... The seamless blend of period parts, 70's long bike style and a modern Sportster drive train, seemed to show the attention-to-detail of a much more seasoned builder! The over all look and feel of this machine is perfect in every way to my long bike loving eyes. I guess passion and motivation can make magic happen. Knowing that it's a first attempt makes it that much better and should inspire new builders and old salty dogs alike.

During our coverage of the Grand National Roadster Show we had the opportunity to check out Mike Davis's Gila Monster. His 1950 Triumph GT turned many heads and recieved top honors for the European class. This build was shot in October during the mock up stage and we felt it deserved a full feature. Enjoy

If you are a follower of the American bike forum here on CC, you may already be familiar with the Scrambler crafted by David Zemla of Burly Brand. Build threads are pretty amazing to watch unfold, there's just nothing like it in the printed media world and we watched this one pretty closely. Beginning with a rather pedestrian looking 883 and building in his own garage, Dave transformed his machine into a bona fide scrambler right before our eyes.

Mark Kawakami is a well known photographer in Southern California. You have seen his photos grace Street Chopper, Hot Bike, Greasy Kulture and Dice Magazine to name a few. His eye and detail to lighting bring a custom motorcycle to the forefront and any editor would be mad not to use him.
