The BAKER 4-Speed Transmission

Haslett, MI May 1, 2017 - The introduction of the Knucklehead and the 4-speed in 1936 marked an epoch in the history of American motorcycles. Many consider the period of 1936-1984 the holy grail of Harley-Davidson. To carry on that legacy, BAKER Drivetrain developed the BAKER 4-speed Transmission.

The external architecture of the BAKER cast 4-speed transmission case was modeled after factory cases to capture all of the details and character of the original design. BAKER Drivetrain has made many functional upgrades to address the shortcomings of the original design like leaks, serviceability, and durability.

The loose rollers on the main drive gear were replaced with a radial ball bearing. The bronze bushings on the gear set were replaced with caged needle bearings. BAKER Drivetrain added a provision, hidden in the back of the case, for an electronic speedo but retained the traditional worm gear speedo provision on the front of the case. The stock Fred

Flintstone shift detent was replaced with a snot-slick linear ball bearing detent for that smooth ‘snick-pop’ shift quality that BAKER customers expect.

The BAKER 4-speed transmission is available with a ratchet top or jockey top cover and has three different case finishes available: classic raw finish, wrinkle black finish or polished finish.   BAKER offers three variations of the shift drum and offer four different lengths in main shafts. All BAKER 4-speeds come standard with the BAKER Klassic Kicker Gears. For more information on the BAKER 4-Speed Transmission, go to www.bakerdrivetrain.com/products/harley-4-speedtransmission-assembly.

Heavy Thursdays - July 2017

Here are some photos from Heavy Thursday earlier this month.  I'm still busy sifting through all the photos from Full Tilt which was just two days after this.  This was like the pre-party to the pre-party.

I rode my 883R:

I got my first glimpse at Ryan's new bike:

Heal up Zack...

Lots of crazy details on this one:

Cool old trike:

Flaked:

Always lots of good bikes to see:

Of course, I can't forget this boat-themed bike.

Just kidding.  I made the mistake of calling it "boat-themed" when I first posted photos of it.  I was corrected and shown the sidecar is truly a fully functioning boat!!!  The details on this thing are incredible and I especially love the arcade joystick and buttons.  The retractable wheels on the bottom for easy loading/unloading are genius.

The next Heavy Thursday is August 3rd!!!

From our friends at Throttle Addiction

All purchases made between July 22 - 29, 2017 are eligible for a 10% mail in rebate. It's pretty easy, we'll enclose a rebate claim postcard with every order during the offer period. Fill in your info, stamp it and drop it in the mail by the deadline. Wait a couple weeks and your rebate will be applied to your account! The rebate is valid on EVERYTHING, including brands which never go on sale. Get on it! Visit www.throttleaddiction.com/rebate/ for the details.
Thanks,
Zach

Two Wheel Disorder - 8/19

Just helping spread the word for a new event this year that looks pretty fun...  Two Wheel Disorder will be held on August 19th at Midway MX Park in Plainview, MN (southeast Minnesota).  There's racing (dirt oval), a bike show, and lots more.

They're also busy building a scrambler out of a 1977 ironhead Sportster to raffle off.  It looks insane so far (in a good way).  I seriously hope whoever wins it immediately takes it out on the motocross course for a victory lap.
