After the big-buck chopper fad hit the skids, so did Street Chopper magazine. It went from 12 issues a year to two. This was actually the same time Jeff Holt was hired on to do the magazine, so instead of getting shit-canned, they let him do his thing at Baggers and help out with Street Chopper. At the time it was biannual it was considered the lame duck of the three magazines (Hot Bike, Baggers and Street Chopper). Holt pretty much went to bat to be the editor and since nobody at the company wanted much anything to do with it, they let him have a crack at it and the rest is history. As far as the transformation to what the magazine is today, it wasn't rocket science really. He just went back to square one and got rid of all the bullshit. At first, it really pissed a lot of people off by running more traditional bikes and giving the finger to wide tires and billet bikes, but the book has found it's audience and now they can't keep the issues on the news stands.

For 2010 the number of mags has doubled to include Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter issues. All of them packed full of nice bikes and other good stuff. There will be parties for all of the issues releases, and today's event was just such a party. From noon to six, Roscoe's in Chino Hills hosted a lot full of custom machines from all over So Cal. From knucks to baggers, jap chop survivors to sporties, there was a wide variety of bikes, some crusty, and some perfect show-worthy customs. We lurked around and shot a few for features and nabbed 40+ images of custom-built machines for your viewing pleasure. Make sure to click on your favorites for larger images.

Holt isn't a glory hog by any means and had this to add about the turn around. "I would just really like to thank Grant Peterson, who is my right hand man on Street Chopper, for being there for me and busting his ass because he wanted to and for no other reason. The guy is a true brother and one hell of human being. I also want to thank all of the readers of the magazine. Their support proves to me and my bosses that I am doing the right thing with Street Chopper. I would also like to thank the advertisers for their support. I know it aint easy out there making a living selling chopper parts with the current economic climate. Their support means alot to me."
