Who wants to go racing? Street Chopper magazine and Editorial Director Jeff Holt, that's who. Not one to turn down a challenge, when the opportunity came up to go to Bonneville with help from Sailor Jerry's Rum and a grip of generous sponsors, Jeff enlisted his friend Chris from LA Speed Shop and the plan and bike started taking shape. Here's what Holt has to say on this ambitious project.

How'd this whole project come about?
Chris and I have always both wanted to race Bonneville as a "bucket list" kind of thing and we were always dreaming about it until one day I said fuck it, let's do this. That's when we started to call up our personal and business friends and put the word out about what we were doing and if they wanted in on the deal. Chris already had a good relationship with Sailor Jerry Rum, so they wanted in immediately. Then Carhartt stepped in as a major sponsor. We had some bad luck with the stock Knuckle and and S&S stepped up with major support of the program by way of sponsoring us with a KN93 motor and RevTech was kind enough to supply us with a 4-speed transmission when we blew up the old one. Even Biker's Choice has given us a set amount of sponsorship dollars out of their books for parts, tools, and supplies.

Do you get any free rum out of the deal?
Yes! And a ton of sweet workwear and sunglasses from Tres Noir too. Even if don't win any records we will still be looking and feeling good!

What class are you guys running in? What's the standing record?
We are doing the 1650cc Fuel Pushrod class in both Modified an Partial Streamliner.
Both records are crazy unattainable for us first timers, so we haven't memorized the records. Haha.
How much time do you have left and where are you at on the bike right now?
We have less than three weeks to get a bike built, get it to pass inspection, and running through the gears on the salt. Yes, it's a pretty tight schedule.

Who gets to ride the bike?
We are both going to get to race the bike because We are racing two classes.

What's the last thing you raced (legally)?
I race to the liquor store nightly.
