Pangea Speed's Zion Express Ironhead

What's the old cliche, "Pushing the envelope?" Andy Carter at Pangea Speed didn't simply push it, he crumpled it up and tossed it in the proverbial fire pit. There is no shortage of fresh ideas coming out of Salt Lake City these days, and Mr. Carter is the tip of that creative spear. While Andy's design might be polarizing, his level of execution can not be denied. The complaints of non-rideable art are silenced with video proof. This isn't mere dime-store window eye candy. Andy's machine is a rider, and so is its creator.

The engine started life in a '72 H-D Sportster with a four-speed that Andy lopped off and replaced with a big twin 5-speed. Custom mounts were made to shoehorn all this into a rigid Flyrite frame, coupled to a 6-over 39mm fork. The gas tank, exhaust, air cleaner, front and rear body work and sissy bar are all hand-formed steel. The bars are Pangea Streamlines, and the headlight lens capsule was hand made as well. A single radial mount Tokiko 4-piston caliper mated to a Ferodo floating disc provides stopping power, and Firestones wrapped over stock H-D mags complete the rolling stock. Andy was trying to get this bike done for 2010's Born Free show, but didn't quite make it. He ended up building 90 percent of this bike in about two months between the hours of 8:00 pm and 4:00 am. Maybe that's why it looks so weird (Andy's words, not ours.)

Thanks: Mom and Dad, Jeremy Jones, Phil Cataina, Brelt, Dooner, ol' Bird Dog a.k.a. Denny, and Brock. I would be lost without you people. Thanks for making sure I have my head screwed on straight

Nice. I can't figure out why I like the bike, but I do. BUT, that said, I was REALLY jealous of the craftsmanship and the handmade features. I asked my wife why we never bought one of those hangers by the airport and she said, "Because Andy has talent sweetheart and you don't".

What the fuck does that mean?

NICE work, as usual Andy. All it needs are some hummingbirds...

That's a wild build, I really like it. At first glance I liked it, then I didn't like it, then I loved it. it's an original, nice work!
