Motornation Network

Show Class Magazine, Born-Free, Meditation 4 Madmen, Two Wheel Terror, Doom Cycles, Choppahead, Lowbrow Customs, Mad Fabricators Society, Atomic Hot Rods and Hot Rod Havoc are just some of the companies that make up over 100 full length films featured on the New TV Network Motornation.tv

A media revolution has begun. Fed up with constantly increasing prices and programming packages no one wants to watch, cable and satellite customers across the US have started kicking their service providers to the curb by cutting the cord and sourcing their TV programming elsewhere.

Co-owner of the Motornation Network and producer of Meditation 4 Madmen video Daniel James had this to say about the coming mediashift.

"The tide has changed in media in a big big way. Netflix and Hulu have paved the way for content to be streamed into people's homes undercutting cable TV by using the internet.

A few years ago I was sitting in a LA bar with Dean from Dice and I got it in my head that there should be way more chopper video’s available and that I was going to do something about it.

Growing up I’d spend hours and hours watching Skateboard films on VHS. I’d watch those films until the tape would brake. The guys in those videos ended up burned into my subconscious. I knew every word, every trick and every song. Those videos changed my outlook on life. So why was there so few chopper films being made? So that's when I started Meditation 4 Madmen.

I had come to America to further my metal shaping and coach building carer. I’m now restoring vintage world war two fighter planes but a few years back I was Alex Gambino’s fabricator building traditional 50’s Customs in San Jose, CA. Gambino introduced me to Piero De Luca, a film producer making rad video focusing on the Hot Rod and Custom scene that had a punk / skate feel to his work. But unlike skate there was really only a handfull of producers like Piero in the world. So when we met him I was stoked to hear about his success selling his films over the years and he really inspired me to make M4M bigger and to contribute to producing film as much as I could.

About 6 months ago Piero called me. No one was using DVD players anymore and he’s sales where showing signs of a market shift. He’s series had been running for close to a decade and he had a really well known brand but still sales had slowed. He said all the filmmakers in the scene where having the same problem and it was time to make a move. I knew a few filmmakers had tired “Pay-Per-View” online but with little success. Piero said, “we need to create a TV network based on the Netflix model that features all the classic chopper and traditional hot rod films from around the world in one place”. I could see the future right then as he spoke. He asked me would I help and without a second of thought said “fuck yes i’m in.. With a ton of work and help from our colleagues like Chop Cult The Motornation Network was born.

We soon realized this platform would support any filmmaker wanting to make films in our industry so we started reaching out to find new content providers. That's when guys like Mike and Grant of the Born Free Show came on board. They could see the benefit right away. The Born Free Channel will feature exclusive episodes based on their invited builders additional to the short videos they release on their blog plus a full feature film documenting this years Show. They could see this would help promote the bike builders who give so much to make the show what it is today. This is just one of the new channels coming into existence because of Motornation.tv. There are a number of producers who have great content but just had no place to go. Cable TV was never going to get behind what you or I want to see on TV. So it makes sense to give the Chopper, Hot Rod, Custom, Vaning, and How to videos one place to strive. Its early days but its clear the media in our industry will never be the same". The producers of content in our scene now have a way to generate professional content, distribute it world wide and get paid by the fans that love it. So its time to get creative, pick up your camera gear and get busy doing what you love.

Good luck and best wishes with the site/channel. I can see myself consuming the non premium content but not ready to pay for the privage to step behind the curtain. kinda like a motoporn site, solid model and been around for years. There is one thing that could get me to pony up and you guys have already nailed it by having access via numerous platforms and devices. I'll be keeping an eye on it and maybe tossing you guys the bucks down the road.

I understand the pay for play, but what's the backstory for those who provide production video? There are clips galore on u tube, what's it going to take for you to obtain that content? Cuz, now we're talking about the other side of the coin: pay for production.

Great idea, I live off Netflix... so I'm looking forward to getting this in my living room... I never watch videos at a computer desk anymore (I'm trying to get AWAY from the desk)... when you guys get an app to stream this through Xbox/PS3, I'll pay for it in a heartbeat... ain't nobody got time to watch TV anywhere but the couch! ;)
