I've seen something like that on a kids bicycle. When you ride slow they slide towards the hub when they get past 9 o'clock then back to the nipple around 5 o'clock. Once up to speed they stay put. Wonder if it's the same type of tchotchke?
In final row of photos, that pre unit Triumph mostly-open primary is nice. Because that is 530 chain, and you can see the front motor sprocket is custom, welded up likely with a stock center and a 530 sprocket blank. That clutch basket must have also had the teeth knocked off and a 530 sprocket fitted. It is a lot of work, looks nice!
