old 94 is one of my favs. start in rancho sd (south of el cajon) hits tecate and ends up by lake marina. from there you can head anywhere

i usually end up heading towards Julian on the 78 or up PCH starting in Del Mar. It sounds like there is good riding heading towards old 94. I have never ridden, but I am a bus driver and have driven that way in a bus on the way into Tecate. Looks like a blast.

Up to Julian and PCH are my favorites, too. I tend to stay away from Telegraph Canyon and Palomar because of the cops, but they are fun rides.

anyone got any good lower speed rides? i live in north county and im sure theres stuff east of me but since im on a cb350 right now i cant be smashing on the main freeways because my top speed isnt where ide want it to be. regular old highways are preferred to a freeway anyways...more fun. ive had a friend or two ride their 350 with some harley guys and keep up all the way out to palm springs but i dont wanna stress the motor like that for too long of a time period

one of my favorite lower speed rides is to head east on via de la valle off the 5 freeway. it's the same exit as the del mar fairground, except the fairground is on the west side of the freeway. my buddy and i went east through some nice curvy moutainy type roads that had tons of big nice houses. it's a lot of residential so i think the highest speed was up to 45. we were able to head pretty far east and the head back west all the way to the pch and did a loop by heading south on that. the only bummer is the stop signs every so often, but there wasn't too many.

i did that yesterday, i went from encinitas (where i live) to south del mar thru the rancho santa fe route...all sorts of good little roads back there to break my bike in. i also went out to lake hodges which was really fun for how close it is to my house...only like a 10 mile ride but i went thru the elffin forest straight to lake hodges, then down to the dam and out thru rancho santa fe....really fun for a random short ride......good scenery for being so close to the coast. its like a whole different world out there.

Im late to the game on this one, but this is a badass route.. trust me. If youre on Del Dios Hwy going north, pass Lake Hodges, go right on Via Rancho Pkwy, then take the 15 south, just for ONE exit, like 1 mile, to Pomerado Rd. The exit curves around, go right (east). First light is Highland Valley, go left. This road is sick, some straightaways, never much traffic, then it gets super hilly and super twisty. Go all the way up until you hit the 67. Take a left toward Ramona, go through town, left on Hwy 78. This dumps you back into Escondido. From there you have more options, but Id recommend going to 9th ave, and take that west all the way through Harmony Grove/San Elijo. Let me know if you want more details on the second part of the route to get you where you want to go. This ride will take about an hour and a half round trip but if youve never done it, its an absolute must.
