I'm still trying to decide if I want to go with a plunger frame or just a rigid. I've heard a couple arguments and opinions both ways. Anyone want to chime in with their experiences? I might not be so interested, but it is a classic 750 chopper frame, as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks

The plunger-type frames have a bit of a reputation as chain snappers and wobbly handlers around corners. This is because the springs are a bit difficult to set the tension on. Once they are dialed in, however, they seem to work pretty well. Keep in mind, if you're going for an actual suspension, don't think a plunger frame will be smooth. Most have been a rougher ride, in my opinion, than a lot of rigids.

Personally, I never liked the look of them, but I know plenty of dudes who go nuts over them. You don't see them around all that often anymore, so they do have a bit of cool factor to them I suppose.

Yeah, I guess it's the cool factor I'm looking for (?)... I'm not really looking from a suspension standpoint. I think I heard someone else say that it's almost worse than a rigid. There is a lot you can do to ease the ride on a rigid. I think I'm more concerned about how well you can feel the road and the handling/cornering. First I've heard of the chain snapping, I guess I can see that though.

Thanks for the input!

I like my savior framed chop, my rigid is still in progress so I can't compare the two. The saviours seem a bit sketchy feeling at first, but as far as I am concerned handle just fine. If you go into a corner real fast they feel like they are bouncy/squishy feeling on the rear end. It really doesn't hurt anything, just feels disconcerting till you get used to it.

I weigh 300+ lbs and my springs don't even squish when I am on it. I think they mainly will absorb only real kidney busting potholes and such. They take away some of the real bad jarring but don't offer much comfort as far as I am concerned.
