My cb750 project

Hey all,
Ive been lurking around for a while trying to learn as much as I can and figured I might as well start a thread about my build. The donor is a 1975 cb750 that I picked up a year ago for $500. Wasn't running at the time but new coils and some carb cleaning took care of that. Gave it a bit of gray rattle can and rode it for a year and now its time to go under the knife and get hardtailed.

As it sits now. I was looking to lower the front around 3 inches and the back around 4 with 4 inches of stretch. will this kind of stance work or am I going to run into problems?

any tips or opinions are appreciated.

i believe it should work fine, be careful how low you build it though, i've found that what looks like "enough" on the lift, rarely ever looks like it in real life.

So its been quite a while since I last posted about this thing so I figured I'd show it in its current state. I started a new job about a year ago and this thing got pushed into the corner for a while. Hope to finish it up over the next month or two. Any questions or input is welcome.

Ground Clearance ? looks like you are sitting on 2 2x4's. Expect that a stock kick stand will scrape in left turn lean. Same with pipe on right. I have about the same clearance and pipes,I have 2 into 1 on each side. But if you look at my brown ricer pictures you will see our pipes are about same in clearance. Bike looks great and should be ridable. Just be awear of your lean.

Its actually sitting on 4 2x4s so about 6 inches clearance under the frame and the exhaust will be getting cut shorter to where the frame starts to angle up so it will have about 4.5 - 5 inches clearance there.

Also, has anyone ran one of these motors and scraped the top rear motor mount? I figure I should be ok just to run the other 3 but if anyone has experience with that I'd like to hear about it.

Maybe it's just the angle of the picture, but it doesn't look like the front tire will clear the exhaust.

Just the angle. There's a couple inches space there

You really went very good with this!! I really like that you made the rigid from scratch, as in, no prebought unit!!! much better this way, for, you make it fit and sit aqs it goes!! and it looks really good!!! Maybe when i am no longer sick, I can ride at least one of my many choppers!!! the more i made each one from scratch, the more I love that one!!! I have three that fit in this category, the rest I bought tyhe frames already rigid, and could not get myself to cut up on such nice werx!!! I really miss being healthy!! it used to be fun to ride!!!
