I really like the way the engine came out, how did you clean it so well?

Thanks guys. I did the engine all by hand n trusty drill.....lots of simple green, scrubbing, scotchbrite/ balls, sanding/buffing and a little paint etc. I wanted to stay away from chrome/ polish and keep it more raw. I plan on riding it so no need to look pretty, just clean.

Re-jetting is totally no big deal. I did it on my XS400, and I'm super new at mechanical stuff.
I got my kit from 6sigma off ebay, and it worked great. A little rich, but it runs way better than it did before.

Love your bike, by the way. Cool to see an xs400 all chopped up.

Forgot to post the updates to the Xs400 build. This bike rips, tons of fun to ride and came out lookin pretty clean.

What kind of charging system does it have? being that it is an xs, does it have the brush set like the xs650? If not, and it is a PMA type, that is great, but I would also like to know, what is the biggest cylinder set up that could go on that type of motor? It would be cool if it could have the upper parts of a xs650 machined to fit that lower part of the motor! The only reason I say this, is because I am on my last xs650 motor, that has a new stator and rotor set in operation, and I really do not like the brush set up on the xs650s, I do however have the last xs650 motor that I pulled from my longest chop, and if it was possible, I at least have the upper part of the xs650 that is in great shape still!!! If I had an xs400 bottom end I would start to attempt to make a 400 into a 650, which is actually a 653cc, just to be exact!!!! Oh, and your bike looks nice, you did a great thing by saving it from just sitting there!!!!
