    Default Post Your Custom Viragos

Just bought my first bike ('97 Yammy Virago) for $500.

I haven't seen many on here...POst 'em up! I hate the stock look with an unbridled passion and plan on going a lil crazy with this until I am comfortable riding and can afford a bigger, better chop-starting bike.

i also had flat bars fitted to this which made it much nicer to ride, the steering felt better and the seating positon felt better

Nice! Thanks guys. I'm looking to drop it 2" all around, solo seat, clip-ons or something (undecided). Lights, pipes, tank...all going to get re-done. Slowly planning now, so next month I can get dirty.

mine isnt "custom" yet but i have big plans for it. Have any of you guys had any luck adapting vstar parts to fit? I have been looking at the oil filter relocation kit and it looks like it should fit.

We will begin stripping the bike next of all stock crap--aim is minimal wiring, lights, etc. The ViragoTech forum doesn't have much in the way of extreme like CC does, but there is a good amount of information. Too late did I realize the Virago isn't too chop friendly.

Ah well...let's see how much frankenstein I can put in and take out of this one.

A generous friend gave the bike to me. It was sitting for a while, had to get it running again. But here's my work in progress.

Not quite sure what direction I'm going with with this, although it's a fun bike to ride, especially here in Hawaii.

I got an old 1983 virago 750 I am planning on making it into a supermoto/street fighter look. The older viragos just don't make very good looking bobbers I do like the newer viragos. My 83 has a monoshock so I think when done it will come out nice

that 750 is cool lookin. i was beginning to wonder where my handlebars came from, i guess they arent uncommon in smaller cc viragos? do you have that rocks in your starter case sound when you start it up from time to time? ive heard there are ways to fix this with shims and then ive heard shims arent the way to go.

Actually I just took those bars off a dirt bike those don't come stock. I got two viragos that one is my junk parts bike I used it for mock up before I tear up my good one. Both of these motors have that starter issue there is a guy (you could find him on ebay) he machines the flywheel and starter gear for around $120 to fix those problems I am planning on getting it done to mine. If your going the bobber look I got extra parts including highway foot rest so you could stretch your legs out when cruising, I don't know what they call them.

Still loads of work to do (removing handlebar clutter, new rear shocks etc.) , but so far so good. Any thoughts or ideas?
