    GS550 cafe build

2 days after I bought my gs650 I picked up a gs550 with a title for $100 to use a for parts. After I got my 650 done I wanted something to do over the winter so I started messing with the 550. Then I found another gs550 on C-list with a good motor and no title for $250. Here's where I am so far.

Dude, that thing is gonna look real nice. I have an 81 GS 550L kinda gonna do the same thing. I love you metal work man. Post more pics as you move along.
What year is yours? That tank shape is a lot nicer looking than mine.

Thanks guys. The tail is my first attempt at making something out of metal. It came out pretty good.

Made a little progress. Got the sv650 front caliper mounted. Mounted the speedo but I'm not liking how high it sits. I can't mount it much lower because the cable against the back of the headlight. Also cleaned and rebuilt the carbs.

I haven't posted any updates in a while. I cleaned and painted the motor. Adjusted the valves and replaced every gasket, O ring, and seal. Also drilled the sprocket cover.

Stripped it down to Clean and paint everything. Mounted my ignition switch and rear master cylinder after I took everything apart.

Stripped the frame with a wire wheel, then primed and painted it. Started putting the frame back together and working on painting the tank and tail section.

Looking nice man! I really like petite tail end, as I'm not a fan of those big and chunky rears.

The shocks are the stock ones for now My new ones should be here today. As far as jetting goes my carbs are different than yours. But I went 5 or 6 sizes up from stock. I plan on ordering a jet kit for it like I did on my 650. I just get tired of fucking with the carbs on and off all the time. If you find the right kit it's once and done
