Now, I am not the leather expert here but I have seen some pictures of holders and thought I should try one. I got all my supplies at Tandy Leather at a very reasonable price.
First off I cut a piece of leather 6 inches wide and 10 inches long. I punched some holes on the end for lacing (pics later) and the 2 holes top and bottom are for the straps to go over the top and bottom.
Here is a picture of the hole punch I bought to make the nice clean holes for the snaps and rivets.
Picture of the snaps I used. I think I should have downsized a little, but sometimes bigger is better.
Here is the end of the specific tool used to mushroom the inside of the snaps. Start gently at first then a little more force to get it to mushroom out to hold it during un-snapping.

I decided to do a little tooling, so I selected a reasonable easy skull to tool and gave it a whirl. Not fancy, but it looks like a skull....

I then made the 1/2 inch wide straps for the top and bottom to hold it all together. att ach the opposite end of the snaps to these ends.
I then put it all together and laced up the ends nice and tight.
Here are the finished pics of it. There is one step i did not show but I made straps with belt buckles to go through the slits in the sling. Then it will go arpound the frame to hold it in place. Hope this helps anyone with a sling....
